Plus the option pricing on the Porsche is a lot more reasonable than Ferrari
Come to think of it the 960 will also give Lambo's a run for the money too

Soon we will have a first benchmark.
Sunday Jan 27th, the new Top Gear series will begin.
With the Pagani Huayra in the hands of the Stig.

It none of the three, nor is the Ring, but MIGHT give an idea.

Some says ... he's Anthony Davidson.
How do you know about the huayra? Do you live in Dunsfold?
BTW I read they wanted to take an f12 to America but the car was late.
Wonder if they gave it a shake round the track.

Concerning Pagani, I know more things than you may imagine.... ;)
And I´m a humble italian living and working in Germany, pretty far away from Dunsfold :)
And yes, there will be the Power Lap.
Anyway if you visit BBC Two´s website, you may find what I just wrote. Public domain.

    Not a repost, new vid.

You can see the interior at 0:58 with two glowing red buttons on the wheel.

    Kers and Drs?

sounds better than Huayra but still a crappy sound for hypercar which cost over million
Ferrari make great decision to put V12 into F70

p1 looks great on their video. its way better looking than enzo imo even though i like 458 over mp4.

i dont care for turbos, but ferrari has their work cut out for them on the styling front to top this.

The test mules have a rather crude version of the 12C's interior installed. Buttons on the wheel of the P1 are red and blue.

Love the video. P1 has some serious grip in these shots. It is extremely low in race mode, as it should be. No compromises there. I am starting to think you are right Jim. This will be a serious track contender.

That's a 12C steering wheel - the one in the P1 is different.

I sat in the car - buttons on the wheel are red on one side and blue on the other. May change before production, but that's how it is now.

Perhaps you are not aware the 12c did a ring time of 7:28 which is a full 5 seconds faster than the best 458 time. And that's before the v10 update which adds another 25hp.

Look I agree who gives a rats ass about lap times for street cars, just I get a bit tired of hearing how the 458 smokes the 12c when it doesn't. At best it can keep up. I drive both on a regular basis and in the mountains where we have altitude to deal with, the turbos are a HUGE advantage. And the airbrake on the 12c is amazing, I'm surprised ferrari doesn't have one or should add one in the future.

Perhaps you are not aware you are comparing apples to oranges.
The 458 Italia tested by Autobild (Driver Sasha Bert) lapped 07:32,9 in the FULL ring configuration (20,832 Km) and with passenger.
The mighty ZR-1 lapped 7:41,5 in same conditions.
The MP4-12C 7:28,3 time was done by Sport Auto in the 20,6 Km configuration (without the box straight and this means about -6 sec) and with driver alone (H. V. Saurma)
More the MP4-12C was with Pirelli corsa tyres, when the 458 was a MY2010 with PS2 tires (not pilot Supersport)
    Cheers

I don't want to throw gas on the fire but a "ring" time set by the Viper in September of 2011 of 7:12:13 is still mighty impressive. I do understand the tire contoversy issues here but Chrysler went on to confirm Michelin Pilot Sport Cups were used during their record attempts. I know! I know!

I own an ACR Viper and consider it's technology quite archiac compared to the latest evolution of "hyper" car technology that will be deployed in P1 / 918 / F70. I would be very dissapointed if these new cars could not challenge those numbers. I think "shocked" would be more like it. I think we will see some very impressive times from all three manufactures.

If you want to compare apples to apples Saurma's lap time in the 458 in sport auto configuration was 7:38, which is 10 seconds slower. The McLaren was on stock tires. Cheers

The more I see of the P-1 the more I realize that it is the pinnacle. F-70 has a steep mountain to climb. Very steep.
