Not disputing what you have been told; I was just wondering, in context of what was explained by the dealer, the reason for the 1.6 price was Ferrari wanted to discourage flipping and the secondhand market. To do that, would they not need to price the F70 substantially higher than current Enzo prices? I mean if the difference between a 10 year old Enzo at 1.1M (?) and a brand new F70 at 1.4M, that's only a 27% increase in price and a no brainer IMO. I would think they could push that to at least 50%. That is of course assuming you have the option to buy an F70 in the first place. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but the P1 price was initially somewhere in the 1.5+ range and then it was lowered to the 1.1+ range. I dont know if this was something the factory did or was just speculation by dealers. In any case the P1 to F70 spread was then quite high. I wonder if the F70 price came down to match? Seems silly I know, but you have 3 supercars (soon to be 4?) all coming to market at the same time and there is only so much the market can handle all at once. Interesting times for sure.
you also have to consider that the Enzo market is much smaller, as in not everyone want's to part with one, not even for 2mil... and there are 400 of them... while there will be 500 of the f70 at once ready for sale... which is a much higher number of available cars at once.. I don't think they can raise the price too much. over enzos resale. 1.4 sounds right for the base car, 1.6 with all the most expensive mods..
The number I have heard over and over for the F70 has been $1.3 which is almost double what the Enzo cost when it came out 10 years ago.
Mike, the initial number I was given was 1MM euros before options which today would be about 1.35USD, this was given to me by a pre approved buyer and that was 6 months ago. Then the next time I heard a number it was from a confidant of Luca's and it had shot up to 1.6 before options, that was 3 months ago and then that became 1.6-1.7 with some options about a week later. I've only seen one of the numbers associated with one option but having seen the option's cost I can believe that the options will add a few 100K. Additionally, the new car is coming with a contract, the Enzo did not. They learned from their 'mistake'. The numbers have moved up and down quiet a bit, which is odd, as they did not do this with the Enzo pricing. I think Ferrari are nervous about certain things with this car, and their having trouble deciding what to do with it. I know the first name given to the car was scrapped, and at the last private showing that some friends were at the name was not given out. Some people have heard the name, and some customers have been given a 'locked in' price, while others don't know the name or price. Who would of thought Ferrari was capable of being inconsistent? By the way you can't get a 'no stories' Enzo right now for 1.1. Enzo prices have climbed pretty steadily in the last 24 months. Ferrari are not afraid of the P1 from sales perspective, at least not from what I've seen. Some people within Ferrari are however, 'uncomfortable' with the 'issues' the P1 poses to the new hyper Ferrari and the new car has been altered very recently (last 6 months). I say 'issues' because no one has said 'challenge' . I hope all is well you and yours. I'll be up in your neck of the woods soon, I'd like to catch up if you have the time.
My info is that there is significant doubt in Maranello about pricing and that they are sitting on a figure of 1.2M USD as an upper limit for a non-optioned F70. It appears that they understand that at any price over that, cars will most likely remain unsold or will take longer to be put into customer hands. I doubt that the current Enzo pricing affects their decision-making process. I believe that the matter of the name has been very recently settled.
No data to back that up yet... I think Ferrari have seen area that need more work..(im keen to see the areas they may be in they may point out what they have changed) issues no one said challenge... RD pulled the spec at Paris now there car is back in camo i think they are the ones with the challenge ahead
I'd not be looking at specific improvements over numbers but at systems integration "quality", for want of an appropriate phrase.
Excuse me? No-one knows the exact spec of the P1 yet...and the fact the test cars are still in camo means nothing....
Proof of this? And try not to call me an idiot again, with that sort of grammar and spelling you're clearly not one to talk. Then again this sort of thing should be expected from a Ferrari fan boy....
Yes - McLaren decided to withhold specs of P1 that were due to be released in Paris once it became clear that the new Ferrari supercar was delayed and was due to be a no-show. Why show their full hand and give Ferrari a list of all the benchmarks the car they were still developing needs to exceed? Where is the logic in that? Another fun fact - the "concept" McLaren showed in Paris is actually a runner which had a full production-ready interior and the complete drivetrain in an early state of tune. They chose to blank off visibility of any mechanical bits and the interior for the very same reasons. They were ready to show the entire car in all its glory and tell a lot more of its story - they'd been planning the Paris reveal for two years. After Paris, McLaren actually removed the real camo off the P1s they are testing. Here's a before and after photo below. The graphics left on the cars have been on there since the beginning when they were still trying to preserve the secrets of the entire design. I asked a very specific question in Paris about whether we'd start to see more of the P1 mules on the roads after the concept had been revealed and was told the masking would come off, the real bodywork would go on, but that they'd leave the graphics on them for fun. If you haven't heard, all those squiggly lines covering the bodywork are the track layouts of various racetracks around the world. To take the sting out of it - yeah, I'm a McLaren fan boy. So what...? >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hehe good for you and Im a Ferrari fan boy and lovin it.... Without Bruce there would be no F1 or P1 and as a New Zealander I proud of what he started...
And there it is folks, internet tough guy at it's best! No actual info but name calling, slurs and a high and mighty attitude. Peloton brought the proof but you did not, why is that? Oh good, I'm a punk now too! Bogans like you make me ashamed to be a Kiwi sometimes....then again I'm glad I'm not Australian....
Your thoughts on the matter are very much in line with mine however, I keep hearing that it will have a 1.4MMUSD base.
Oh dear - let's shelf the name calling before the two of you lose the ability to contribute please. You know, Amadeo Felissa and Antony Sheriff had lunch together on the second day of the Paris Motorshow and were walking back together in better spirits than a lot of what I see in the back and forth here. At the end of the day we all love cars - some more than others - and so let's just stick to sharing that passion and leave the crap on the sidelines. I like Ferrari's too or I wouldn't be on FChat. Here's a portion of my diecast collection to prove it, including a couple of 'ugly' Enzos. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can appreciate the fact that Ferrari is some kind of God to people but the completely rubbish and seriously biased opinions of some people even with the solid facts out there (and no, this doesn't apply just to here, sport is another) really irks me at times and it's even worse when no actual proof is supplied when making claims. I have nothing against you, I was merely asking for proof of your claims.
Thanks Michael. Indeed it is - the 240Z was the very first car I ever sat behind the wheel of and started the engine. Well... not that tiny one on the shelf. It was a real one that belonged to friend of the family. I'd consider owning a real one someday. Also, the Bburago F40 on the back of that shelf was the first diecast car I ever bought - and that was ages ago. >8^) ER
