Was watching the Daytona 24 hour race yesterday on and off for a few hours, also following on the internet. There has been lots of hype and promotion of this series here in the GTA, thanks to the participation of local racers and teams. There has also been great shots from Lucas Scarfone, which just adds to the presence here. I'm sure there are a bunch of F-Chatters down in Daytona as we speak..lucky b--tards !! :D

As you may not know, there are 2 local drivers (Robert Herjavec and Marc Muzzo) who race in the 458 challenge series, along with two Alberta brothers (Ryand and Damon Ockey)...all sponsored by FOO.

The Rolex Grand Am Series has another local Team "AIM Autosport" (headquarters in Woodbridge) racing two 458 GT cars; car #69 sponsored by FXDD and raced by Astentato, Wilkins and Lazzaro.
The car #61 sponsored by FOO is raced by Max Papis, Giancarlo Fisichella and Jeff Segal.

#69 FXDD car had fantastic season last year, hopefully they can repeat the championship in the GT class in 2013 !

I would highly recommend watching this series, lots of fun and excitement.

    Here's my brief race recap:

    458 Challenge:

Robert Herjavec had a bad weekend, crashing the 1st race, and mechanical failure the 2nd race. The other FOO cars of Marc Muzzo, and the Ockey brothers did pretty well.

    Grand Am:

AIM Autosport (458 GT) Car #69 finished the 24 hours in 3rd place (GT class) and the #61 car finished in 21st place (also GT class) This was the first race for the #61 car, and had high hopes thanks to the participation of Papis and Fisichella.

If I'm not mistaken Aim Autosport and FoO have formed a partnership.

I don't know the details, but AIM used to race prototype cars, and Mazdas. They recently got involved with Ferrari, and have factory support from Maranello. I'm assuming FOO has been a major influence and partner in this.

If any other Fchatters could provide more info, that would be great.

I'm just returning from Daytona where I was with the AIM team all weekend. 3rd place was a fantastic achievement given the huge manufacturer involvement from Audi to win the race. Check out the Other Racing section for the Carbonio photo thread full of behind the scenes images.
