Ooh very nice & looks like a local garage too. HSM had a pair of Daytonas for sale & I think the blue one was sold (they were not registered) but don't remember if they had a spider now that would be extremely rare & valuable in RHD while most that we see are conversions from coupe.
Hahaha there was one at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station vintage vehicle showcase back in sept'12..Prolly the same one u saw!! And an ultra rare vintage RR....
Cheap and chic.... but this is undeniably the best looking one around.. www.burnpavement.com/article.php?id=478 If it ever appears on sgcarmart im getting it! Wahahh
Hoy Fatt road is the road you take if you are driving to Supercars, instead of turning right to Supercars, go straight and take the next right. It's the first building on the right. It's on the same road as the other dealer that sell used ferraris.(cannot remember the name)
Just wondering: why isn't there an equivalent of pebble beach or something. Besides the fact that there are still not enough classics, couldn't the Ferrari club get together with the other exotic car clubs and create some sort of event where cars get displayed at the Singapore cricket club grounds or island club golf course or something. I for one would love to spend a day perusing all the exotics especially if some of the classics could be brought out of the woodwork, be they invited from Malaysia or local cars. To get the critical mass up first, we could include modern cars as well and give pride of place to pre 85 cars (for example).
A great idea but you need someone to get the ball rolling. Not much interest from car companies to put money in this and car clubs don't have the money. So it's unlikely to happen.
Hmm, how about writing to the Sultan of Johor? He's definitely got the cars for the occasion, and the money to back up the hobby. A few tugs to his heart, and he might just sponsor the event himself! You never know
Nice idea Harold but as King mentioned, $$$. Also need to get qualified judges that are non existent in our area but if just for show without prize givings it might be viable. Louis Vuitton did something like this back in the 90s while KL holds theirs pretty often. We could do it during F1 season. I'm guessing that there's at least 50+ pre war cars & over a hundred classic plates in Singapore by now. Larry, Billy, Koo, Tommie & a few others would wow the show & put many smiles out there. Another issue, we have a very high turnover of cars yet annual car shows have all but disappeared.
1. Weather here sucks. Even under a tentage, it would be hot, sweaty and it'll make the race queens dripping wet ... which is actually not bad an idea 2. Lack of appreciation. By and large and thanks to our car policies, few locals ever got a chance to grow up appreciating the older models say the 308/Dino types let alone the Merc 500K or gullwing. Bring a 250GTO and a 458 and see which attracts a larger crowd. Few even know the significance of these old cars so there is no awe unlike the UK. 3. $$$ as King/Jon have mentioned. Don't forget we have an anti-car government that just seeks to milk car owners. Hell, we didn't even mention the Sat F1 qualifying results in the main papers until recent times when we starting bidding for the F1 race! That is how artifical our policy makers are, things here are never done because of passion, only because of $$$.
Spot on, the crowd will drool at the 458 and not even look at the 250 GTO. With 7 million people in the future and if the govt don't increase the COE quotas, 100K COE will be cheap
Have you guys seen Liang's FF? He knows how to make it look sexy. Good color combo of white and black and with those super dark windows, it's plenty cool. Ital should spec their showroom car like his and it will help sell the FF.
Maybe we should just get billy and all the others to park their cars on thd cricket club grounds. Haha. But as you say, maybe starts with no judging and prizes, just show and shine event. And fine, have the more modern cars there to wow the crowds... and maybe charge the crowds to come onto the grounds and take photos alongside the cars and rCe queens, but its not profit making but rather done as part of a car club event where maybe even the participants pay to have a spot for their cars. Once the general public starts tl see the classic cars and learn more about them, the event may slowly gain a deeper appreciation from the current uneducated car communities here.
Audi isn't there a duty-free bonded warehouse in Changi airport that's supposed to attract high net worths to keep their art & car collections? If we could attract car auctions, that could be interesting. I'm working on an auction business but our area does not look attractive so most likely in Hong Kong.
