That's got to be a scoop for the engine air intakes.

The one just after the door is for radiators IMO.

    Good sketch.

Unless the mule is significantly faster than the production version of the car, these numbers are not nearly as good as what I've seen. Some of these numbers are just not 'fast' enough. The mule was turning times in the 1:19s and one of these numbers does not match up with the record Ferrari was aiming for, not even close.

I saw the car in the private preview too on the 29th... Just like to add that it was absolutely unreal... Also the new steering was 2cm smaller than the 458 with a new design. The air brake is in operation on breaking along with the active rear diffuser. I absolutely loved the rear... Got to mention that these timings spoken of are from test mules not on the actual car with all the clean flowing aero...so numbers are only going to be better.

950hp is great but only 800 from the V12 seem about 50 - 75 short of where it should be..

The 0-100 seem slow specially given the KERS boost i was thinking more 2.5 - 2.8 area

Topspeed is little high anything over 330-350 area pointless

    Just my 2 cents :)

Well, I know the test mule turned a time of 1:19.4, so with the new diffuser design (which is awesome by the way) I think we will see a very good time. As I said long ago, the times turned by the mule were without the active aero. I'm hoping the time I was told becomes a reality. The rear to me, is the prettiest part of the car, its a bit familiar... in a good way.

Nope, Ferrari don't "care" about top speed. In fact when certain members of the "Cavallino Club" were approached in early 2012 and questioned about what the top speed "needed to be" they just said: "over 200mph". When they were asking customers about what they wanted to see it quickly became apparent that the top speed did not matter to many of the xx clients.

So, by exclusion, the record you're referring to is the Fiorano Lap Time

    Simon,
As we get closer and secrets become less secret I think I can talk more openly, but right now, I can't say anything too specific.

I guess most of us prefer Ferrari because its cooler/prettier... than McLaren.

Now despite all of Jim's warnings, the car might not be terribly slow. So where's the applause since they are doing it with a V12?

I don't think he can. I presume everyone who has seen a preview of the car had to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I was expecting more on the horse power without the kers, but I think this will do enough damage for the others.

?? I never said it would be "terribly slow" I said and still think around the Ring it will be slower than P1.

In a straight line I like Michael look for more speed than the numbers quoted so far.

2006 P 4/5 has higher VMAX and similar 0-100 KPH as those.

I also have and still do agree with Michael especially about the rear.

I'm glad Ferrari has stated that it will be below 7 minutes at The Ring but my estimate still remains at 7:05 for F70 and 6:55 for P1.

    Thanks for your insight Jim.

Am seriously curious how you come up with your lap times.

No one knows the weight, power, chassis details, tyre types, brakes that will be offered on each car and yet you are able to quantify lap times!!

    I am truly impressed!!!

Other than your personal clear dislike at the moment for all things Ferrari, what technical insight allows you to make such opinions?
