Would be nice to have a peek at the insurance assessment sheet. Looks pretty good to me. I don't understand the 'brand new tyres' comment: with that mileage?

 

As someone who lost 4 cars to this flood i warn all to avoid these cars. And $90k for a flood title car? Buy it for parts only.

 

Where do you live? Or where were the cars stored?

 

Was there a warning that Sandy would cause floods? Because if there was ample warning, then shouldn't the owner be liable for letting his cars in an underground garage?

 

There was indeed a map on the National Weather Service website two days in advance of the storm showing the storm surge in the range of 8 to 12 feet above high tide from about Rockaway Beach NY, across lower Manhattan, the Hudson, Passaic and Hackensack Rivers Valleys, and down about halfway along the Jersey shore.

All one had to do was compare the NWS map with Google terrain map and do some simple first grade arithmetic. For example: +12 surge - 8 elevation = whoops I'll be 4 feet under water!

Having said that, the people running New Jersey Transit did not make this effort. They left I think about 250 engines and passenger rail cars in Hoboken where they were sure to go under water. They did so causing a few billion dollars damage to that equipment.

So I don't think it's reasonable to expect most private citizens to make the right call either.

 

That Ad looks very suspicious to me...notice the last sentence.....~"function as as it should. For $89K" That little "period" there is very suspiciously placed IMO.

The salvage tile and full pay off from the insurance company tells you what you need to know. What a shame. There were so many. At least this one was not a rare irreplaceable example.
