THE F70 (LaFerrari) Thread

The site says that they will make only 499 units. Why i don't believe it? They said the same thing for the Enzo and we all know that they didn't mean it....

 

Actually - the first figure for the Enzo was 349, quickly revised upwards to 399, and then came that magic 400th car. Ignore the fact that they made roughly 75-100 more Enzos according to credible sources.

They also built the MC12, MC12 Corsa and FXX using the basic underpinnings, so add another 100 or so cars there too.

I don't have an issue with that (I might if I were an owner who was told "399") but I do wish Ferrari could just be more open and honest about plans and realities.

This could sound silly, but I think they could easily sell more than 499 cars.

 

I think information is recycled globally at the moment, with very little new data added.

My opinion is that the P1 will do very well, both performance-wise and commercially. Remember, we are not in 2003, which was right in the middle of the Schumi/Brawn era. A lot has happened since then and McLaren is now perceived (and probably is) one of the best structured and most capable car manufacturers around. They ain't gonna leave this to chance.

I strongly agree with the sentiment that Ferrari will need to redefine the link between enthusiasm and technical ability if they are to maintain their grip on the market.

I agree with Napolis on his thinktank views due to the fact that the Internet and its associated marketing ethos has created many new benchmarks, one of these being what these cars can do around the 'Ring. This is particularly so as these cars employ tech that is closer to F1, or racing in general.

Standard F150 for me please, that'll do nicely!

 

In any production run spares have to be made, therefore more than 400 Enzo's were definitely made by Ferrari ... maybe some are just components that have never been assembled. You would be pretty pissed if your Enzo broke a part and no replacement was available ...

Parts are one thing. But Ferrari has a history of making far more cars in a run than they publish. You cannot account for the extra Enzos because of the need for 'parts.'

In fact, the existence of extra cars would mean that there are FEWER parts because the spare parts have to be spread over more cars.

Ferrari is simply dishonest about the production numbers.

 

Yeah - not talking about spares at all. These are actual cars with unique serial numbers over and above the number Ferrari suggested they intended to build. And they put a plaque inside every Enzo that said...

Okay not just spares then ...

You guys do realise that the only reason Ferrari make road cars let alone supercars is to rape the people that buy them right? Thus if they can rape a few more they will. They must make something like 400% profit on every supercar they sell.

Enzo started this "the customer is a loser" attitude intentionally and it works wonderfully. In fact the worse your treat a potential Ferrari buyer the more they want to be part of that exclusive club. Clever marketing ... not sure it works as well nowadays though.

If they publish 499, that means it'll be 600ish.

 

Ferrari did the same thing with the F50. The plate is in fact "accurate". Of the cars with a plate, there are exactly 399 of them. The "extra" cars just have no plate

 

349, and true, I find that really amusing that some cars just didn't have a dedication plate fitted. Of course some F50s didn't even have a VIN plate on the steering column. By the way Mike, the number I'm been told is bouncing back forth between 1.3 and 1.4 base.

 

Apparently there are at least 3 F 50s with the serial number 99999.
