The front seems to be exactly the same
I agree with you that with a smaller wing, it will be dificult to achieve the same lever of downforce but, wings are not the only way to do it. IN the early 80s, the f.1 best" wing cars" produced so much downforce that the skipped front wings and run very small rear ones...of course you can´t build a road car with a "venturi tube" underneath it, because with would be almost impossible to "seal"it with moveable skirts (like the f.1s had) on a road, it would be extremly dangerous because the surface would never be as smooth and without bumps as a race track...but it´s possible to use fans to get more grip (if i´m not mistaken i believe the 599xx has someything like that, and the fact that it´s not a race car, will alow Ferrari to explore without limitatios the bottom of the car, so perhaps it´s possible to compensate the use of a bigger wing.
LdM referred to the 'new Enzo' during the F138 presentation this morning, calling it the first hybrid Ferrari. He gave no other information, but there was a segment of the presentation dedicated to Gianni Agnelli and the F2003-GA which was named in tribute to him, as this year marks the 10 year anniversary of his passing. I do wonder if the potential is there for the Enzo replacement to be named for him as well? >8^) ER
I don't know which name they'd use - perhaps an alpha-numeric even - but the attention on him and the timing is interesting to me. Ferrari pays tribute to Gianni Agnelli >8^) ER
Yes - perhaps something like that. To be clear to any blogs listening in who want to publish this idea, I am simply speculating. I have no knowledge of the actual name given to the car other than a source who suggests the chosen name has not yet been revealed by anyone. This means you can rule out F70 and F150 completely, I believe. >8^) ER
From what I've seen I think your lap time(s) are a little off, but only a little. The mule is very quick, but I believe the P1 will be quicker on longer circuits (the ring) where down force plays a huge role. However, I think the F150 will surprise some people on certain tracks. I don't think the performance gap, regardless of the track, will be as big as some people think, especially after Ferraris revisions. In the end I think the P1 will be faster, but, and this is a BIG but; I believe the F150 will be a much simpler car to handle and said performance will be much more accessible. Ferrari has really looked at making this car as "easy" to drive as possible. I think more people will be able to get more out of the Ferrari than the P1. Ferrari has been more 'subtle' with the aero treatment than Mclaren and this is obviously going to play a big role on the track, but Ferrari is not looking to make a second fiddle car, it's going to do certain things better than the P1 and vice-versa. The P1 is going to be a great car, there is no doubt in my mind, but the great thing is, so will the F150.
Road P 4/5 uses fans, active aero, much more efficient under tray and a larger exhaust blown spoiler than an Enzo but basically the same shape without fans, efficient under tray, exhaust blown spoiler, which are not allowed by race regulations in P 4/5 C makes a lot more downforce using a large rear wing. P1 will have a lot of active aero and a large wing. I still think P1 will have more downforce than an F70. Wet weight will also matter at the Ring which is a long lap. KERS cars require a lot of cooling fluid which adds weight and both will need that but P1's TT will be more fuel efficient than F70's V12 which will require more fuel to do a lap thus more weight. When you go for a Hot Lap you put in just enough fuel to make it. F/R balance may be an issue as well. I still think that a V12 vs a TT will have a harder time with this as well as a heavier engine's polar momentum effect on cornering speed and rotation all of which come will come into play.
I agree but don't see P1 being harder to drive at speed. I think both will have a lot of engineering to make the average driver able to go very fast. Personally I wouldn't switch either of those cars "Nanny Systems" off, turn to the Babe next to me and say "Watch This! Hold On!" without a bit of training...
Or Ferrari Agnelli. Either way it's horrible, but we gotta give him it would definitely be surpricing. I'll stick with Villeneuve
They just dedicated the new Maserati plant (ex-Bertone) to Agnelli the other day, as well as, of course, the F1 car in 2003. I hope they dedicate it to R. Byrne for his many championships won and for contributing to design of the F150.
Thanks. Good comment about Lambo similarity - wasn't intentional. Pointy nose is not so angular (see my other sketches) and a take-off on the F12.
I just checked few dates around last year F12 Berlinetta release. First spy photo of almost finished car came out on February 24, official photos came out on February 29, and car was unveiled on March 7. So, I assume same schedule will be set for F70.
