Today is the official end of the canadian penny. When will be the end of the nickel?
I just fueled up today and the purchase price ended in .01 cents and it was still billed because it was on a credit card. I am going to see what happens when I buy something with cash today...whether they round up or down.
Well, I did end up buying some groceries today for a cash purchase and they rounded down from .42 to .40
If your total bill ends in .01 or.02 it will be round down to .00, .03 and .04 will be round up to .05. .06 amd .07 will be rounded to .05. .08 and .09 will be rounded to .10
when we were kids a penny could get you 2 candies and the smoke shop. i feel old now Gary Espada 8394 EtypeFHC 887465
To quote Groucho Marx: The nickel today is not what it was fifteen years ago. Do you know what this country needs today?...A seven-cent nickel. Yessiree, we've been using the five-cent nickel in this country since 1492. Now that's pretty near a hundred years, daylight savings. Now, why not give the seven-cent nickel a chance? If that works out, next year we could have an eight[/]-cent nickel. Think what that would mean. You could go to a newsstand, buy a three-cent newspaper and get the same nickel back again. One nickel, carefully, used would last a family a lifetime!
Retailers are already scamming with the new penny rule: if an item ends with 3 or 4 cents, they round it off to 5. If it ends in 1 or 2 cents, they just leave it instead of rounding to zero. Saw it at Tim Horton's this morning...
