As we try to figure out how F150 and P1 are going to perform on the track, the comparison of 458 and MP4-12C gives some indication.

I prefer to avoid the trees as well but I also prefer my supercar not catch on fire, generally speaking. ;)

Erik, do you have any idea when Magazines/blogs will get their hands on P1s to test? I've heard that Mclaren are going to try and deliver US spec and Euro spec cars simultaneously, rather than the European market (rest of the world) getting customer cars long before the US, do you know?

The latest rumor is they will try to deliver the first cars around the time of their 50th Anniversary date which is set for celebrations on September 2nd, 2013.

I assume press and customers may get a crack at driving them in the time between the Geneva launch and then, but that's only supposition. Timing on deliveries will be interesting too but as the dealer network in each region is now fully established there'd be no reason to roll the cars out in stages like they did with the 12C.

Great pictures. It definitely looks better in red than orange.

I still find the styling rather cartoonish though.

That's actually Volcano Orange. It's the same car that was shown at the Paris Motor Show. :)

Haha. Fooled me completely. Anyway, it definitely looks better in these pictures - it might have something to do with the lightning or the editing.

my 2 pence on the p1 is that this car sounds crazy when its on full chat and the noise when it does launches is the f'in nuts , was lucky enough to see the car get development over the past year or so , the drives never wanted to talk to me , answer any questions or tell me anything about it they just always had a big smile on there faces and if im honest there smiles told me eveything . this car is going to be good i cant wait to drive one

Is that the "floating" console of the new Volvo? ;-)

Looks pretty cool although I am still not convinced about the portrait screen McLaren likes to use....

It's very comfortable. The skylights give a very open feeling. The visibility is great especially the view of the front corners/apexes and a helmet fits easily.

The press release for these images, thanks to Mark Antar for the tip:

The ultra hires versions of all three pics are available on the McLaren Media site.
