And if you get into trouble with the authorities, some under-table would solve your prob. Usual rate is anything from MYR20-MYR50. But if its an exotic, can easily expect double that. Plus, now near to CNY, police all very smart, know chinese rich a$$ got money to pay.... :-(

Still, after conversion, its jz SGD50 or so.....LOL

Thanks mate but its Poor boy's stuff compared to what you guys have over there :) seriously, most of us are giving up our exotics here and keeping them overseas now where roads are plenty & price of cars very realistic. The authority here is also clamping down on speeding, pushing up costs while the insurance will hurt too so having a sports car is not ideal anymore.

Hey dude, do you guys take your performance cars to China for drives & does HK insurance cover mainland? Any good routes with breathtaking landscapes to recommend?

Argh can't read them on my iPad. Thanks anyway. I've seen a couple of them on the North South near Seremban, Taiping & Slim River but didn't see the rest. So just wonder if other states have them in town area or trunk roads.

Hey guys the Targa Florio rally revival is open for cars before 1977 & modern Ferraris are invited for the Tribute series as before. Yes, you can enter your Ferrari for this event or if you have the period correct cars that were raced before then much better!

More info will be updated later in their site: Targa Florio Classic

Asianbond & some others did it last year. It's a challenging course held in Sicily & the oldest race since early 1900s. Do read up some biographies from the Jo siffert, Fangio & other great drivers on this legendary circuit.

Ya bro, the COE is killing everyone. Even rich ppl like all the pals here also won't so stupid bid that high. Who will bid at that type of price for a piece of paper that last for only 10 years right? i believed most car owner won't bid that high , etc from $30 out of sudden fly as high as $90,000/-. That is ridicules!!

We might have a lot of loaded people that owns half a dozen exotics easy, but money don't buy them taste; and your collection is tastefully done! I especially love the BB, one of my favs! My pops used to have an all red 512BB, what a lovely sound it makes! But every now and then the clutch gets jammed up because of humidity and we would have to jack up the rear to unjam it! Good times...

There are two ways of crossing the border with your cars - 1) permanent HK/China plates which are mainly designed for China factory owners to commute daily. 2) Temp China plates that you have to apply for every time you go. The permanent plates will have insurance coverage for sure, but I am guessing for the temp plates you would need to apply for extra insurance coverage in China also.

There are quite a lot of China track day events that hk people would organize and drive their exotics up! Every now and then you will get to see 30-40 exotics stuck at the border on a Friday morning, a scene I hope to catch some day! I assume you guys would drive to sepang or other close by tracks also?

There are also the new generation factory owners that would slap the permanent plates on their exotics and commute to China daily! With the conditions of China roads, they are nuts yet admirable to utilize their exotics like that.

HK actually has a few nice twisties with good scenery! Unfortunately, during weekends they are filled with cars and cyclists!

Fret not, it's available for charter but that too could bankrupt the bank :D

Speaking of ultra luxury, I've been driving a lorry for mum's house removal & getting a hang of it. Keeping to the slowest lane, watching the world goes by & an irritating alarm that goes beep-beep-beep beyond 65

The best part is the view, simply panorama compared to some exotics :D bad part? Try finding a parking for a 2.5m tall truck & we should complain less on our sports cars.

I think everyone should be a lorry driver for a week at least once in their life for a humbling experience ^^

    Oh but of course :)

Ah fantastic. Thanks for the intimate details of driving in China. I would like to do a road trip in a challenging vehicle before I stop breathing :D I did drive around Dalian to Lvshun & back for a few days but it's pretty casual.

Yes, we do drive to Sepang for a fun weekend while some return right after an afternoon of track day & it's about 400km per way. Pasir Gudang, a very old track is about 30mins or an hour away but it's shorter & not as well maintained. I prefer the B roads & mountains in Malaysia as the changing condition makes it very exciting while circuit is like eh, threadmill? :D Our insurance automatically covers Malaysia peninsula while most do cover a certain distance into Thailand. Oh, but the access is 50% extra :( or is it 100%!?

Singapore is pretty much like HK but we only got a couple of hills that are boring & of course the cyclists!

Good trick on unlocking the clutch! Didn't know that moisture jams it up.

Spot on Jon. That's the only 3 AES along NS highway, no others. So if you guys heading up north, just remember to slow down at those 3 spots, and you'll be safe....

Oh yeah, another thing, you do know that they're all offline for the time being right? No summons to be issued till further notice, so you're better off looking for the sharp shooters by the side of the road. Oh and not to forget, CNY is around the corner, so everyone is out for some angpow as well.. :p
