I know it's been discussed before but maybe the new members can shed some light.

A 2+2 with some sort of wicker inserts in the doors. Probably a GTE.

When I lived in Rochester, NY, I heard a lot of folklore about the car, including that it was supposedly owned by a professor at the Eastman School of Music.
Back in 1976 I did indeed have a run in with someone who apparently owned it at one time.
I also heard that it was in a junkyard somewhere in upstate, NY.

Does anyone know the real story?

    As I have said before, it's a 330GT and is/was at Petroske's. Yale

Studio Fly in Modena did a "Beach Buggy" on either a C4 or 365GT4 chassis in the 70s that, as I recall, had some wicker interior pieces, although I dont think on the doors, which I remember as being minimal, if any

Useless thread bump: I'm an undergrad at the UofR and it would be neat to hear any information about this car. From what I've heard, Bob knows a lot about the Italian car scene in the Rochester area during the 60s/70s and the fact that he doesn't know much about this particular car makes it that much more interesting.

There are still a few interesting cars around here, in fact I saw a 348 convertible at a CVS near campus (with engine trouble, the guy couldn't get it started) in April/May.

From a UR grad (NY plate on one of my Dinos is "UR"): Bob knows the Rochester car scene (at least from the early '70s) as well as anyone, and I doubt that any local Ferrari every escaped his notice. He also worked on quite a few of them back then. Fred

Duck and cover Bob, last time I brought up the wicker car I got my head ripped off.

Hey, Ferrariboy - I don't know where you got your info but you might want to check out your source. It (or you) does not have a clue. I was in college at RIT in the 60s. I couldn't have had less interest in cars as I was to busy working on my BSME. I bought my first Ferrari in 1974 and I did not hear about the wicker car until much later.By that time, it was rumored to be owned by a local auto parts man but that was rumor.

I only posted because I consider it interesting as to what was happened to this car. With the present interest in restoring older 12s, I find it hard to beleive that the car is just rotting in a junkyard.

And, Fred is correct. From the mid-70s until I left Rochester in 1989, I maintained nearly every Ferrari between Syracuse and Buffalo, including those in for service at the dealership in Buffalo.

Yeeesh, this is NOT a rumor, I saw the wicker car in 2001 at Petroske's. Why don't you call Petroske or go over there and talk to him about it if you are that interested?

I was a student at Monroe Community College in Rochester NY 1965-1966. Monroe Community was just behind eastman School of Music. I did frequently walk past a 330 GT 2+2 parked on the street by eastman School. It was painted a dark brownish metallic (cordovan?) and did indeed have a wicker or canework section on either side. There were rumors that it had been the NY or Paris Auto Show car. I have always wondered what happened to it.

I saw at Petroske's early last spring. He was starting to restore it.

He still has it as far as I know

Quite possibly, but I really don't know. The last time I talked with him was in October of 2010, when he provided me with those images and the s/n.
