Hi all, I would like to change my spark plugs, what would be the best fit for my car. I want to put the best but at the same time I don't want to be the first to try it out. What plugs are you guys using? Lino
Hi Lino, I use NGK DR8EIX (iridium), was told they are the best. She starts up everytime and haven't had any problems since my ignition module fix. The NGK IX Iridium Spark Plug is designed specifically for the performance enthusiast. It offers extreme ignitability, improved throttle response and superior anti fouling. Iridium alloy has extremely high melting point making it perfect for today's high-tech and high-performance engines. IX Iridium Spark Plug features fine iridium tip that ensures high durability and consistently stable spark. It s Trivalent Metal Plating offers superior anti-corrosion and anti-seizing properties and delivers outstanding acceleration, high fuel efficiency and durability. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/375917-mondial-3-2-spark-plugs-use.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Lino, Me too I use the same NGK sparks which were also recommended to me by Mike. Never been a problem, if there is it will likely be elsewhere. The car runs very strong. Cheers.
Hi Guys, There is no problem but I don't know how long they have been in the car and I want better quality then the OEM. I think they are champions.
My friend who works at an auto parts sourced 8 NGK IRADIUM plugs for 89$. Going to install the this weekend. I have done this before on other cars but never on a Mondial t. Is there any thing I should watch out for?
Hey Lino, pretty straight forward like any other car. Do observe and label each spark plug when you remove the old in case there's a problem, you can identify which cylinder it came from. Look for oil stains, burns, etc. Gap the new plugs per spec and put it back in. Also observe the plug extension condition looking for cracks. Make sure to feel for the node on the plug when you snap the extension back on and give her a crank. If you feel brave, inspect the distributor cap and rotor for carbon buildup as well (try trunk facing dizzy first, the rear seat dizzy is a real PITA to take out and put back because of spacing). Hey Mike, telling Lino to look for the distributor cap on his t is a little like telling him (a pilot) to look for "Prop Wash" or "Flight Line." He won't find it. P.S. If, as predicted, we get a good rain to wash out the salt , I may take the Mondi out, How about you? Dave
LoL -OH crapoli I just realized Lino has a T, sorry brain fart! My bad.... Just the plugs Lino, you'll be fine ! I had to look up how the 3.4 V8 gets power... Hey Dave, prob not this weekend, counting down to Orlando in a week. Looking forward to taking the wife and kids to see Mickey and company. How about I ping you when we get back weather permitted. Maybe we can do CnC again. cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good one Dave. Well I put them in and cranked her over. Started great. It's minus 17 degrees Celsius or about 1.4 degrees F. and with the garage door open I froze my a** off. I was tempted to drive her out but it will have to wait till it warms up. Thanks Mike, pretty straight forward.
I noticed after inspecting that plugs on right side they have black deposit, from what I remember from my younger days in shop class that would mean that it's running rich on that bank. Has anyone dealt with this before.
