For those that are using aftermarket wheels, how are you resolving the lugcentric problem? I know you can buy hubcentric rings to fill the space between the hub and the wheel bore but often times, you can no longer use the center cap.

Yes, absolutely need the cnetering rings for aftermarket. Bought my 83 308 from PO and it came with after market 17" wheels. Terrible vibration. Bought centering rings and probalem solved. Not sure why this would effect the center cap? If the after market wheels already have a center cap that fits? Are you trying to re-use factory cap? That would require some machining. A wheel shop can put the same horsey shape and colors on any generic center cap. That is what I have.

I finally got a hold of the manufacturer and he said they decided not to make the wheels with a center ring. He said it was supposed to be more of a 'racing' style wheel. I have gone to my local machine shop and he is going to make me some that will still work with hubcentric rings. I will buy those F-car wheel emblems and problem solved.

My aftermarket wheels were designed for Acorn style lugs, they were lug centric.

Just because I could, i adapted some Viper centering rings to the wheels to make them hub centric.

    No diff either way.

As long as any wheel has acorn style lugs, it must center, unless of course the lugs bolts holes are not concentric to the hub.

Of course, i may as well talk to a wall, as some people will repeat anything the see on the internet, regardless of its accuracy. Or maybe Ferrari work was so ****ty that the lug holes are way off center and the wheels need to be centered on the hubs. Or, maybe some people do not understand centering at all and buy flat lug, over size hole wheels with oversize centering hub and expect the wheels to work on a smaller hub. I don't know.

I had a problem even with the acorn lug nuts at high speeds. The rings centered out the HRE wheels and I haven't had problems since

Looks like you got your answer here...

What kind of wheels are those? What diameters and widths? The rears look REAL wide. Are those going to clear the fender/spring?

Please post more pix (especially when they are installed).

They are made by Work Wheels 8X18 inches front and 12X18 inch rears. They are going on a my Koenig Specials 308 similiar to the pictures here. Wheels and tires were $5,000....not cheap.
