Does anyone know if the rubber mats that Mr Fiat sells are the same material as the originals? I need a set to sew into my carpets.

Have you got the thin rib or wide rib pattern?
I bought a 132cm x 68cm sheet of thin rib for #01616GT from Cicognani Nov 2011, identical to original, to cut to suit, for 75 euro + shipping, see pic.

Cicognani do the wide rib version already cut to shape with the correct edges. The heel pads are the same for both RHD and LHD cars so there is no issue there.

You'll see them pictured at the bottom of this page Dino 206 - 246 GT (1967-73)

Thanks again gentleman you have put me on the right track,I do have the original foot rest and the distance between the ridges is 20mm so Im assuming this would be the wider version compared to the photo,am I correct?

Have been in touch with Cicognani all though I have not been able to verify the difference between left and right hand drive floor mats they have said that they only make them for left hand drive,I have also asked if they can still supply a sheet of the wide ribbed material as Vince had stated in a previous post.

I have the original mats in two of my cars and the heel pads are exactly the same as those used on LHD cars.

Well I have been scouring the web looking at RHD only even later than my 05202 for example the one currently for sale at Hexagon Motors, and all the cars have the same mat layout as Isuk ,surely they could not all have worn out and replaced with the available LHD setup. The left hand drive drivers floor mat is cut to go around the gas peddle which is different in RHD form.

Possum, that pic is correct and exactly the same as my two factory original sets. It seems Ferrari did not bother to alter the heel mats for RHD probably due to tooling costs. When you sit in the car you realise the drivers side heel pad on a RHD does not need to be any larger as your feet are pushed back to the area covered by the heel pad due to the location of the pedals. The raised section in the LH footwell for the accelerator pedal on a LHD car is still there on the fibre glass moulding in RHD cars hence why the left mat is the same shape in both cars. Ferrari evidently made as few changes as possible for RHD cars.

The advantage of RHD cars for taller drivers is that there is a nice clutch foot rest directly above the centre tunnel which lets you stretch out your left leg. In a LHD car the wheel well must make this more cramped.

    Here are my original mats.

    Matthias,

Do those terms really belong together when discussing models produced in Italy in the early 1970's? :D

I think Ian you have solved the mystery of the rubber mats, your mat profile looks the same as mine 20mm across the raised section, as I mentioned previous I looked at dozens of right hand drive cars with the left hand drive set up,at least this thread should help others who come across this problem which is what Ferrari Chat is all about.Your pics Ian will be helpful also when its time to sew the mats in place.Ill pose another question when did the change happen from thin rib too wide rib.( Cheers from Down Under)

My trimmer says that there is no vinyl edging only on the small foot rest near the clutch peddle, vince shows vinyl edging on his mats which are then sewn to the carpet and it appears Iains mats dont have vinyl edging at all Im confused once again.
