Stylish? Well, the poor Volvo looks like its from 5 different cars.

    Ferrari Lusso

    Aston Martin DB 6

    Maserati Mistral

    Lamborghini 400

    MGB

So, I guess it has the most styles. Does that count???

The 308 is a squared off Dino. It may not be totally unique but being based on a Dino ain't have bad in the looks department. Its sort of like being the baby of Christy Brinkley. Chances are you're going to pop out with some good looks. :)

I prefer the 308. I like the flow of the lines. How the back comes together. It's an awesome shape.

We might as well be comparing a Lancia Integrale or FIAT Panda to the 308. What is the point of this question? The Volvo is from a very different era, and it is a very different type of car for a different purse. It is a GT, not a sportscar. For what it was, it is a stylish and pretty car but it is not a design icon. The 308 is.

The 308. allthough styling wise it needs to be a GTB and have euro-wheels.

There are Dino elements (mainly the ducts), but I see a lot more BB in the 308 than Dino.

The 308 is just iconic to me. I love it's styling. If you drive down the road in the Volvo, you'll definitely get some looks. I you drive down the road in a well kept 308, everyone looks. For a Volvo though, that's a nice looking car.

2 nice cars but different eras, not really comparable...If I had to choose one, the Ferrari almost wins everytime vs a non-Ferrari

I'd need both of them in my garage for a year to decide.

308 - not even close. I think the Volvo is attractive, but the 308 is borderline iconic. I own an E-Type, and I'd say the 308 is darn close to that benchmark.

Thanks for the opinnions folks. It was just an innocent question I came up with during a grey and very rainny day outside...while I did not want to drive either, that's all. I agree with almost every body here....the 308 is iconic, they are from different eras, drive dynamics are substantially differents...but I can tell you they both atract lots of attention at the gas pumps. Cheers.

I'm not going to pick one but I will say that the p1800 is a very nice looking car and holds its own amoung designs of the era.

My favorite version is a little older model, with chrome that follows the swoop line in the doors and that have a shield shaped badge on the hood.

I'd love to have one to keep my 308 company, but suspect the 308 will always be more fun to drive.

The Volvo's best variant is the wagon.
    What does that say?

I do not believe that those are the correct wheels on the Volvo.

I have always liked the P1800 but it is no match for the 308, even though you showed the (relatively!!!) ugly US version.

The 308 is one of the most beautiful cars EVER. There's nothing about its' looks that isn't near perfect. The Volvo is "nice". Hands down, 308

The 308 is just a pure beauty,
a Euro GTB, timeles, in my opinion

Try asking this over on Volvochat and see what you get? The 308 is kind of iconic but far from the most beautiful F-desigin. The Volvo looks great although I wouldn't buy one as there are other manufacturer designs I like better.

Two of my favorite designs. It is true that those are not the correct wheels on the P1800.

While I love both, the P1800 hasn't aged as well as the 308. Indeed, the P1800 was so trendy that it almost looked dated the day it came out, which is a part of its charm. It's one of those cars that has never gone a day without turning a head, because it was so unique.

But for sheer beauty, the 308 is a far purer design -- more balanced, graceful. It achieves beauty without "look at me" styling touches, which are used by the P1800.

I'd be happy to own both. (Unfortunately, at 6'4", the P1800/S/E/ES series is not a good fit. While they have beautiful interiors -- dig those blue gauges, I'm simply too tall.)

What he said. Although both represent the last hurrah in design for their respective marques.

I have always felt the p1800 would be considered one of the greatest touring cars of the era if it had fifty more h.p. I also think it has 410 sa overtones which make it a classic design for the ages. As far as 308 comparisons... Apple's to oranges.
