Not sure why you take a swipe at P4/5, its not a copy of a 330 P4, put the two cars next to each other and you will see differences, to imply that P4/5 is an exploitation of a past design is in my opinion nonsense. I recently read an interview with the designer of P4/5 and he he stated that the car is not a copy of a past design but there are similarities but there are also a lot of new ideas.

Back to the Enzo replacement, perhaps with this car they will try to incorporate elements of the F40, F50 and Enzo into the design. The interesting thing is going to be the dimensions of the car and its overall size compared to the Enzo. On paper the Enzo looks quite big but in reality its actually quite compact when you see one in person. If Ferrari make the F150 smaller it realy will be a triumph of packaging considering the complexity of KERS.

At one extreme of the retro vs. modernity styling question is the 911 or even the Lamborghini, all of which are derivative of the same basic form. At the other end is pure modernity, as exemplified by the McLarens. Ferrari does not do either of these. They are neither tied to the past nor inclined to an artless generic engineering look. This is one of the things that makes their styling so interesting and unpredictable, if not always successful.

I was taken by the difference between the 599 and F12 as exercises in front engined V12 design. The 599 was an homage to the muscle car and frankly never appealed to me. But look at the basic form of the F12 -- just the silhouette. It is classic Ferrari. But then turn on the lights and look at the sculpture...and you are in the 21st century.

Being neither tied to the past nor neglectful of your heritage is tricky business. We will see how it works out in the F70.

I hope that you're kidding. You have a great opportunity to see it in its private preview, don't waste this chance to do something that could ruin your relationship with Ferrari.

To be honest, I don't want to see any exclusive picture of the real lines of the car before its public debut, I just want to go and see the live debut on press days at Geneva, it's definitely more exciting than logging on internet one day and finding the pictures on my homepage. We're waiting this car since 10 years, I think that we can wait 1 more month.

Also, a friend of mine when he had the invite to see the private preview of the Lamborghini Aventador, before to see the car he had to walk through a metal detector, do you really want to risk to snap some pictures?

Very good post and thinking about it you are quite right, look at how the 360 was a jump from the 355, the 458 from the 430. I for one am glad Ferrari doesnt stick to any particular theme, as you say this makes their styling interesting as one doesnt really know what to expect.

While I really appreciate the effort, I think it would be a lot safer if you instead provided a detailed description of the car - perhaps with a sketch as well.:)

Your relationship to Ferrari is important.

It's more than that. Here's the thing. Only about half (or less) of US owners destined for the car are receiving invites to the factory. They are extending to you a special invitation to PREVIEW a monument of production. Forget if it were Ferrari. Let's say it was Microsoft with a new OS, Apple with a new phone, or even something much more out of the public eye like Mars with a new color M&M. You owe them the courtesy of respecting their wishes.

Besides, why would you do it? So that a bunch of wankers that you don't know on the internet (as opposed to the wankers you do know in real life) can look at grainy spy pics when they're going to be the usual press shots shortly thereafter anyways?

As I said, just don't do it. It would better, more appropriate, and just more useful to most people on here if you just wrote down your impressions of the new car and whether or not it lives up to your expectations.

Then again, maybe I'm only saying that because I've already been to the factory to see the new car. :D

    (I kid, I kid)

Really? Nobody suggests P4/5 is a copy of a P4. Of course it isn't. It is built on an Enzo chassis. How could it ever be a copy of a P4? And why would it be? Jim owns the real thing. No point in having a copy built. That being said, it was never a mystery that the design of P4/5 is a modern interpretation of the P4. Nothing wrong with that. It is just the choice of the person who pays the bills, but it would never be the choice of the factory.

That quote is very, very silly and it's not an Official Ferrari Statement. Note "oficial (sic.) ferrari.

Maybe they meant an F1 car from the 70's. ;)

Actually, would a 312T generate more downforce than the F70?

Do you seriously think Ferrari would make the following statement about the F70?

"a car which can turn into a cornor as quick as a Formula1 car, a car packed with downforce as a real Formula1 car"

Do you seriously think Ferrari would have an Official page without the following copyright:

Ferrari S.p.A. - registered address via Emilia Est 1163, Modena (Italy) - share capital Euro 20.260.000 - VAT no. 00159560366
Enrolled in the register of companies of Modena under no. 00159560366 - Copyright 2013 - All rights reserved

    on it?

Do you think Ferrari would call themselves:

    Bull? Bull****.
