The Daytona at Artcurial made 308k Euros. But the car was not good. It was at most a driver. Pretty impressive.

Yes. From friends who saw it, it was a very average car. 400k$ used to be value for a great Daytona. I'm glad they are going up.

They sit much too high and this is a design flaw that could and should have been fixed. No Ghibli or Grifo sits this high up in the air.

Very impressive! A year and a half ago I knew of a perfect one for on offer for 15% less. BTW - was this including commission?

The estimate was silly in every way: 220.000€ - 260.000€! Come on, the lowest offer price for any Daytona in Europe is 300.000€ ...

Have you seen a Daytona in the flesh? It is a classic in design, form and function. I can assure you the proportions are perfect and knocks any Ghibli, Grifo or pretty much anything else into a stylish cocked hat.

Actually my Dad's Grifo is sitting to high at the back at the moment but hopefully it will sit better when the back window is in place in a couple of weeks.

I've never thought the Daytona sits too high but now that you mention it I'll compare when the Grifo's finished and we can park the cars side by side. All three are fantastic looking cars but the Daytona in Berlinetta form over the Grifo or Ghibli but in Spyder form I prefer the Ghibli to the Daytona not least because you can have a Daytona Berlinetta and a Ghibli Spyder for the price of a (factory) Daytona Spyder

The car needs a lot. Friends saw the car in person and were not impressed. They said it needed a lot of work.

    ......

As I have been reading these threads and your associated comments, noted the cars within the wonderful relationship you enjoy with your father & the cars....all I can say is BRAVO to both your father's foresight (daytona;C/4(2 of them!);Grifo) and Lord know what else! and his instilling this passion to his son....I really hope my three boys will share such with me. Heartfelt Congratulations! Jack

    Thanks Jack

At present Dad also has a Daytona Spyder conversion, 550 and a couple of Zuffenhausen Beetles ;). He's had I think 29 Ferraris since buying the Daytona that is now mine back in 1974. The 29 covers most of the models built between 1962 and today with the oldest being 250SWB 3605GT and the newest a California.

Having a Daytona is the garage since I was one years old (showing my age) certainly helps build the passion, and I spent a lot of my formative years reading his copies of Motor Sport magazine rather than comics.

My Wife and I are are hoping to start a family of our own soon and I fully intend to pass on the Daytona to the next generation

I have seen maybe 60-70 different Daytonas.

I have owned two of the three, but that doesn't mean anything. Anyone can see that the Daytona on pavement sits higher. Not much, but enough to make them look jacked up like my my friends pontiac GTO in high school.

Do you have a Daytona? We could compare numbers.

It needs to be loaded and driven, it will reset.

Measure the bottom of the car in front of the rear wheel well and lets see what we get.

I love the Giugiaro Grifo one of the few cars that looks good from any angle.

Will do, would have done it yesterday when I was down at Dad's if I had seen this in time.

Here is his Daytona Spyder Conv and the Grifo or should it be Grifo Camino at the moment :)
