    Hey,

    I think I could make an argument that all those bits are either "cheap" (by F1 standards) to produce and/or very definitely affect performance.

    I reckon they should STFU and get on with building their cars! ;)

    Ok, some, very few, items on that list I could understand being manufactured by a third party. Brake pedal assembly and pedals, steering system parts, and brake balance stuff. Otherwise the third party manufacturer simply limits what a team can or cannot do with their design

    You'd expect that the FIA should know that those front wing adjustment systems aren't allowed anymore! A 2010-only failed experiment.

    Indeed. I noticed that little "misnomer" too.

    However, reading the rules over the years I've learnt that much "old" stuff that's no longer applicable tends to get left in for a while - As long as there's no conflict, why not?

    But, outside of the pedal box I'm gonna beg to differ;

    - Kimi *hated* his steering so much at Monaco last year he missed FP1 while they changed it.
    - IIRC, "brake balance stuff" was at the heart of one of the spying scandals - Doc's were released in which it was meant to be redacted - Trouble was, they messed up and it was easy to "reveal" they were talking "brake balance valve" (sic).
    - If you're gonna make everything else, I'm sure you can do your own pedal box. ;)

    IMO the crash structures and survival cell should be allowed to be purchased from other teams. I cannot see a competitive advantage gained by a team building their own vs buying one from another team.
    Same goes with:
    - Survival cell as defined in Article 1.14 of the F1 Technical Regulations
    - Front and side impact structures used to meet the requirements of Articles 16.2, 16.3 and 16.4 of the F1 Technical Regulations
    - Roll over structures - roll structures as regulated by Article 15.2 of the F1 Technical Regulations
    - All parts of the steering system
    - Seat
    - The brake and throttle pedal assemblies and mechanisms
    - Pedals
    - Brake balance adjustment
    - Front wing adjustment actuation system
    - Switchboard and paddles

    Even the pedals are different between drivers. Back in the 2000s, Schumacher for instance had a long travel pedal where he could gradually place power whereas Barrichello had a short one, where all he power would be released, if you get what I mean.

    They are talking about the electronically adjustable front wing that the drivers could change twice per lap.

    I think the guys here interpreted the FiA regs as meaning what you said, but, if you look at what's written Front wing adjustment actuation system it does not state or imply only electronic actuators. So it does actually cover the mechanisms by which the mechanics adjust the font wings during a pit stop. Small point but its the off season :)
