The one off set of rear wheels on the dean martin car have standard ribbing.

At some point all of the loose steering wheels will be reunited with a Mangusta- then what will an owner who needs an original steering wheel do? It is such an important part of the Mangusta as it is so unique and readily identifiable as a Mangusta trademark.

Daryl the Mangusta looks great again. A few photos of the Mangusta prototype. Looks at those huge Webers(48-52mm???). They look like they are mounted to the floor. That row of vents on the rear by the exaust and the filler cap were added later. Also the rear wheels were much wider on the original prototype and the wheels were painted gold with Dunlop Racing tires. The original prototype was pure BAD ASS!!! 8MA820: Funny exhaust, aftermarket underdash AC (how do you access the heater controls?) , newer compressor, Pantera condenser, modern alternator (electrical?), Pantera scripts on valve covers, overflow tank relocated, spare removed and mini in trunk, eBrake handle modified to newer style, electric fuel pump added, gas cap, newer no jack & tools, heater vents changed, incorrect steering wheel, no radio, but speakers (?), pass seat tracks on driver's side (?), missing radiator but good overall 8MA1106: funny exhaust tips, painted transfercase, aftermarket rims, new interior, ac ?, Alternator set-up ?, newer style motor, very clean hot rod style.
Hey my former car was 'tarted' up too, and new owner/flipper/dealer is asking $256k for it...$140k+ more than I sold it to him for less than a year ago. ORIGINALS gonna bring SICK money soon, hold on to your goose! Original wheels can save the look of these modded examples in a big way, so I am offering NOS wheelset on eBay right now.
These cars presumably came without radios. Late dash design cars had the radio / trinket tray combo. Hard to say if it should be there, only 1-2 cars with tray w/o radio. Halls has repro but need to be recovered. There is a set of wheel centres on the console but can't say if they are originals or silkscreen style.
Note, the modded car has met reserve and will sell from this eBay auction. Going to be fascinating to see what it brings....especially for me.

those are bespoke cast cylinder heads, very cool and exotic, the intake port would be a straight shot down to the intake valve, cool!
yes DeTomaso had many custom cast pieces, look at the valve cover emblems and rear uprights on Mangusta (and Pantera)....There is a pic in one of the books of Piers Courage`s car, the whole front nose section was one piece cast magnesium, way ahead of the curve, crush /crash proof (unfortunately no one warned the fire crew not to use water, the rest is unfortunate history) .
