At this point, IMO, ALL of the 1976 cars should be considered "a good starting point, if complete".....there will be tons of needed repairs due to the age of the machine.

You may well have to get the Factory to comment on your wiper placement, I have never seen another 308 like that...

Random question: Was there ever an all aluminum body 308 released?

There was one 328 'special" made in aluminum, for Houston attorney Joe Jamail, the current owner is on the site...

Nothing I have read or seen in the last thirty some years would lead me to believe that there was ever an aluminum skinned 308 factory car.

The factory group iv experimental car I believe has aluminium flares, front lid and rear spoiler. The rest I assume was glassfibre.

Ferrari 308 GTB Fibreglass 275 BHP - Restored engine for sale at carclassic.com

    Preis: Auf Anfrage
    Jahr: 1976 Ort: Europa
    Kilometerstand: 78 570 km (48 821 ml)
    Fahrgestellnummer: 19099
    Farbe: Rot
    Innenraum: (Leder) Beige

This is the rarest and most performing of all the Ferrari 308: a 1976 model with Fiberglass body. Delivered new in France. The complete mechanics were overhauled by Pozzi (original invoices available) at the mileage of 67,000 km (engine with new cylinder heads and complete transmission). The engine was improved to 275 BHP. The wheels are large Group 4 Gotti models. The interior is 100% original, the leather upholstery is nice but needed to be cleaned, the dashboard cover and the carpets are entirely original and appear a little bit used.
This car is available in the South of France with French papers.

The interior of #19099 may be the only thing that is still original on the car. The car looks tired and not very well taken care of. It is just someone’s idea of a hot rod fiberglass 308, nothing more or less.

Very honest car, I actually like it. The Gr4 flares don't look too bad, it's swap to coffin wheels and drive it. Yeah it's tired, fine fine, refresh what needs refreshing but leave it as original as possible.

I have some personal experience with the dealer; the car may be honest, but I would not trust the dealer without a lot of precaution; inspect the car with a magnifying glass before, take all possible precaution and warranties and "Caveat emptor"...

Well, THAT car is proof that in some countries, and at least here in France, the Vetroresina market is NOT on the rise (at least, not yet!): this car has been advertised for about two years and has not yet found a taker.
Asked price eighteen months ago was 85.000 euros; the car was presented as "flawless, no expenses spared as for maintenance".
Friend of mine had asked some information about it a year ago; the car is of swiss origins, and I seem to recall that it has been fitted from the beginning with the four pipes exhaust. He said to the seller that he thought the car was worth about 67.000 euros and he was ready to discuss a purchase at about that price; seller was asking 85.000 and refused.
The car is still for sale, and the asked price has been reduced to 75.000, which is a bit above the market here. At about 67/68.000, it should sell.

    Rgds,
