    Although the F355 is a very popular car, people are terrified to buy them due to service issues. Cars with clean histories and good leak down numbers will still not sell because buyers are weary of valve guide issues and other potential failures. I always thought selling used cars was very risky because it's hard to know what you're selling without actually going through the entire car. So our approach is just that... to go through the entire car.


    To start, we found a good clean car with low miles and proper service records. We are going to fully service this car, including replacing the valve guides even though it has good leak down numbers and replace all of the common failure parts. Pictures of everything we would normally look over during a PPI will be shown with full disclosure in this thread.

    Most of thee 355 engine out threads more commonly show the engine supported by a dolly or hydraulic lift. The engine joist/lift shown here looks to provide more access to the underside however. Is the engine being supported by:

    a) bolts going directly into the block
    b) via chains connected to the lift
    c) Bradan voodoo magic?

    We normally use a roll table and just put the full subframe on it with wood blocks. Since I'm replacing the valve guides the motor is moved to an engine stand. The motor is supported by bolts going directly into the block.
