Portugal, in the north.....despite my age (38) i think of myself as an f.1 oldtimer, since i remenber watching f.1 races with 4 years old!!! (i think the first one i remenber it´s Monza 1978 an Ronnie accident.....back in those days, my parents had a black and white TV and i wasn´t able to distinguish the Ferraris from the other cars but my older brother could and he kept me informed on what was going on....whenever a Ferrari broke i fled the room and went crying in the kitchen!!!
I´m always searching the web for rare Gilles pictures, and trying to dig something new about him as i honestly belive there will never be another driver who can even come close to him.
To me, the real f.1 golden age was from 75 to 83...especialy 79 to 82 so your pictures are just from an amazing era!!You should really consider to pic the best and make a photobook, you have some outstandig images there. If you need help in identifiing any f.1 picture just ask, it will be a pleasure to help.

By the way, i also have a daughter, she is 7, and when she was just a couple of months and was crying all night, i used to watch old f.1 races from the 70s while trying to make her asleep...and i think she liked it!! these days, during races, she often comes and watch them for a while with me, asking if the Ferraris are in front....

My 23 year old daughter used to go with me to the Twin 125s in Daytona from the time she was three. Those are the qualifyiing races for the Daytona 500. She had a favorite car, Skittles, got upset when Mars changed that to M&Ms. If she looked slightly bored, we left. That way she always wanted to return. We even did the IndyCars at MidOhio a few times. Then she started getting wicked with concession gokarts, driving adults off the track.

Oldest daughter went to LeMans 24 with me, she met AJ Foyt.

They both know names like Schumacher, Andretti, Petty, etc. You do not have to have a boy to enjoy racing with your kids.

OK, one more for now. Wife's checking into the hospital so I will be tied up for the next week.

As I said, these are all the rejects, and this is the only photo returned to me of a Ferrari at the 1989 Monaco GP. I think Mansell drove #27 F640:

Not sure when I will be posting photos again. Between the wife going for surgery, and me probably getting banned for suggesting there are many a**holes in certain sections of FChat, could be a while.

    If ever again.

Not sure if I posted this photo before, the Nissan in West Palm Beach. Whatever happened to the young Brabham? He seemed to have such a promissing career in racing?

nice pic! love the Castrol Jag in the background too.

are you referring to Geoff Brabham? he left the US in the early 90's and finished his career in Australia.

So he stopped racing? I figured he was too young for that. I have to find similar to the Nissan photo of the Jag, and Doc Bundy's Corvette. I have boxes of slides that were returned to me, takes much time to sort.

no, he kept racing until the early 2000's IIRC. so yes a fairly young retirement but he had a long career.

I think the Williams is Carlos Reutemann, not Jones (blue/yellow helmet). Suberb photos, keep them coming!
