Hi, thought it might be interesting to show a few shots of Shiltech's great work. Time had come for the belts and thought I might as well plunge in and pull the engine. So its full clean up time, changing anything that needs doing, checking the clutch and all those other good things. The business end should be looking great after a full detail. After the motor is back in its off to have the paint pulled along both flanks and address any issues, a couple of bubbles have started so figured might as well take all the pain now.

Will drop in a few more shots as things progress.

With a bit of luck she will be ready for Donington Historic.

    Mark

    PS anyone spot the lambo?

Thanks for the question, not having a full respray just a strip back on the lower flanks and a general tidy up.

With everything else looking so good, carbs look a little out of place..... they are running well so maybe a job for next year ( rebuild and clean up).....

Hi, sure is, Im based in the UK, 1980 registered built late 1979. All the docs show it was red from the start as do the paint stickers under the trunk.

Cant wait to get her back on the road, dropped off at Shiltech back in Nov '12. Saying that the weather is still pretty crappy and with tons of salt everywhere, I can wait.....

That's nice Mark ! Most of the ones are painted red when they should not be, it's nice finding one that came from the factory as a red car, plus a euro. Are you doing any interior refresh , or suspension refresh ?

Thanks. Well last year we had a full swing arm strip down and clean up, callipers were also done. This was then followed by a rad recor & a rebuilt steering rack. She was then properly setup re alignment, shims etc. I then found two NOS full rear light and chrome sections (as the originals we cracked where someone had over tightened the bolts). Then came a full tool roll and a map reading light.

Inside she is fine, no rips, tears or cracks. Everything is original and works a treat, When I dropped her off in Nov, I had the aircon, lights and wipers all working away, no prob. Have to thank Birdman for that...;-)

So once the body has been seen to ( its nothing major but I would rather hit it now), then she will be driven. I hopping to get her back for the Donington Historic ( a great festival just around the corner from here).

Very nice interior ! question. The rugs are they black or blue ? The light , maybe flash, give it a blue rug look ? Do you have the original Manuel's and warranty book for your car ?

My personal favorite colors on Ferrari's are red/blk, and I love the combo on your car, especially since its a Ferrari correct color car.

Do you have the boxer ( black trim ) on the bottom of your car ? And do you have 16" wheels on this car ?

Great looking car Sir ! Truly well cared for, and nice and tidy...congratulations, I am very enamoured with your car, thanks for sharing ! Hope it comes out perfect for you, and the event to come to enjoy it.

Thanks for the comments! Indeed the flash makes the black look blue. All the carpets are original and in nice shape.

Yup on 16's but no boxer paint. Feel very lucky to be her current owner ;-)

Sorry, yes all manuals and warranty books in place, as well as 2 lever arch files full of docs, invoices, extra service works, ins valuations & old ownership papers, FOC concours winners cert ( from a few years ago) right back to the day she rolled out of the dealer on the 2nd of April 1980 in Glasgow. ;-)

Awesome car. I think the GT4 is one of my all time favorite interiors. Even prefer it to my GTS

    Mark,
    Everything is coming along nicely.
How long have you had her? That interior
looks like it just came out of the showroom.
Hard to believe these cars are almost 40 years old!!!!

Thanks, had her for just over 2 and half years, she has had a number of owners but all the info shows that at least 5 or 6 of those guys sold on without really doing any mls. Which is nice for me as she has less that 40k on the lock. :)

Yes the interior is in good condition, took me a good year before I found the car I was after.

    Will keep posting shots ;-)

    Hi GavC,

Great, any pictures of the work or as she is now? Yes, was at Donington with the East Mids FOC last year, managed a drive around the circuit during the parade lap which was cool. Also visited the Morgan factory last year. With a son of two and a half and number 2 due mid June I know 'car time' will start to dry up so as soon as she is ready ( and with a bit of luck the weather will play ball) lost of mls. Would be nice to meet another Gt4 chap.

Where are you based, Im in Ashbourne Derbyshire.

Hi Mark, just about finished upgrades this winter. Cam belts, valve shims, electronic ignition and dizzy rebuilt, service, painted cam covers ( sorry they look better red) and a bit of re jetting on carbs. I have some photo's of mine on here under some of my previous posts. Based nr Sleaford. Usually get to either East Mids monthly subject to work or new lincs one when evening ones start. Think yours will put mine to shame

    Hi GavC,

Not sure about putting yours to shame, I'm sure she is a cracker. Engine is just about done, a few parts need powder coating ( engine mounts etc) and then on to the engine bay ;-)
