    What do you guys think of this brake (rotor) cooling race part being made to adapt to the 458?
    Air flows thought the 3" hole (concealed behind the duct cover) and then (via vacuum pressure) in between the rotors.
    Its designed for a 3,800lb BMW M3 now. More Ferrari style race part than BMW.

    Brake cooling is essential for the street 458 if it is to be tracked. My stock 458 leaked brake fluid from the calipers from tracking.

    Leaking fluid- not good.

    Brake hardware- pads, fluid, rotors...can be prolonged with lower temps.
    If anyone can take a quick temperature reading (rotor, caliper) after a track session and share the data that would be great. Track, ambient air temp and top speed would be great as well.

    The 458 is a lot faster on the track than the M3. The braking demands are greater as well.

    Testing is needed first to determine if there is any advantage to this idea.

    The 458 is much quicker.
    By channeling air to the center of the rotor it will help remove some of the heat energy through the veins in between the rotor faces. Even though the carbon ceramic rotor can store more energy and dissipate energy faster vs. traditional metal rotors, cooling the rotor will help a ton. The 458 Challenge car has interesting brake cooling parts.

    Anyone like to do a handful of laps for testing purposes, to create a benchmark?

    There are upcoming track days at Thunderhill (March 16 and or 17), Laguna Seca (March 4th)and Buttonwillow (March 17th) that are available.

    The 458 Italia has insufficient brakes. Essentially the same brakes as the Scuderia, carrying near 400 additional pounds and another 60Hp that require braking from even higher speeds.

    These same dimension CCM rotors are used in the Scuderia, and they are insufficient due to lack of cooling. I got a shop in Florida to develop a front brakes cooling kit for my Scuderia as I got tired of cooking the brakes.

    The F430 Challenge and 458 Challenge have brake cooling kits, but the parts are excessively expensive (the 458CH entire cooling kit runs a tad over $10,000).

    For track use, a cooling kit will extend the life of rotors, pads and calipers.

    Awesome product. I wish something like this could be available for the F430 and Scuderia.

    Check the cooling ducts in the MP4-12C equipped with CCM brakes, awesome.

    How is the cooling guarateed it the car is stopped ?

    No airflow to cool it then ?
