Maybe if only he and his wife go to a moderately priced place and they bring their own wine. There is not enough there to feed a family.
Unless you are thinking of spending $2k on a dinner there's at least that amount in parts if you look a bit closer.
Bob, it seems to me that there is not that big a market for these cars around here. Just normal supply and demand market dynamics at work.
The well trained eye sees $2K that can be taken from that car in about a couple of hours. The car itself is undoubtedly a complete mess.
I'm going to bump that amount to $2,800. I've just learned this on another forum: "thought you might be interested, if not aware, that the dogleg 5 speed biturbo ZF manual box is a homologated racing box and the casings are highly sought after for classic motorsport to the point that there is a firm in the UK who are making these things from scratch at vast cost. Whenever I've seen biturbo 'boxes sell here they are fetching £800... and the internals are then junked! I have to wonder if this has been a cause for the huge decline in biturbo numbers here, ratty project biturbos used to be a few hundred pounds and you could double your money by pulling the 'box and weighing in the rest."
1975 Maserati Khamsin Project Car for Sale If I had $80k burning a hole in my pocket I'd grab this and restore it ($20 for car, $60 for repairs, engine rebuild, bumper conversion, interior, complete respray). Maybe someone else here is looking for a new project?
Looks like a good car. And from the advert's wording it sounds as if the owner is flexible on the price.
There is a red Ghibli SS coupe that will be auctioned by RM at Amelia Island 1971 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS Coupe | Arizona 2013 | RM AUCTIONS Ivan
There is something wrong with the red Ghibli, it seems like they re-did the entire right side, completely wrong. The sharp lines are gone and the door is offset from the reset of the body, thus the reflection is all wrong. While the left side is perfect.
I think you're right. I would not have noticed if you had not pointed it out, but there seems to be something wrong. Another tip-off is the missing chrome trim along the right side rocker panel. Maybe it was hit or badly scraped along that side?
The Ghibli's interior looks very nice. I do not understand why someone would remove the rear side reflectors but leave the front. It appears they were looking for the Euro look by removing the front and rear bumper overriders. I would have left the rear bumper overriders since many late model Euro Ghiblis had them, plus they look better than the two holes in the rear bumper. It is missing the hood pad and, more important, the hood appears to be missing the torsion spring. Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the right side again. Also, the waist contour line on the right side seems to be mismatched fore-and-aft of the front wheel well. And the head-on photo shows that the air intakes below the grill are not symmetrical left-to-right. I think that this car was hit on the right front fender and right door -- and not repaired as well as it should have been. If so it still might be a nice car, but seems to be be priced very high. Ivan, you've had a number of these. Does this car look correct to you or is it suspect?
For me it is hard to tell by looking at the photos. I will be at Amelia and will look at the car in person. I hope it is a good car and that it sells well. Ivan
We are now going through the second (or third) time the same Sandy cars appear on ebay. This is when the seller forgets to mention the very small detail that the car was under five feet of salt water for several days. Maserati : Other BLUE MET in Maserati | eBay Motors I know this car well as I sold it last year. I also know what happened to this poor Indy after I sold it ... it was not a good story. All I can say is stay away from it, let it go to Maserati heaven in peace. BTW: the current seller is not the guy I sold the car, he collected his insurance money and moved on. Reading the eBay advert, it's hard to think anything other than this seller is representing the car in a dishonest way.
Glad to see that there's been no airbag deployment, whew! So what "looks like" a nice driver 3.7 isn't drawing at $70K?
No question about that. I would think that if it was registered in NY state then the title would be tagged as flooded?
Also note: "All languages in the machine working properly", which is a very good feature.
If that is the car that our F-Chat colleague thinks it is, then there is no doubt in my mind that the seller perpetrated a fraud and the buyer took more of a bath than the car did. This kind of thing aggravates me to no end. I tried to ask a question about the car, but Ebay would not let me do so for some reason. I then tried to contact Ebay suggesting to them that this sale might be a problem and to protect their own reputation they should ask the seller to honestly state the condition of the car, but got no response and apparently they took no action. I really hope the buyer realizes what happened and takes some legal action against the seller and against Ebay. On a side note: even Gullwing Motor Cars give you every opportunity to see and understand what you're getting involved with before you buy. You can examine the car as long as you like, talk with their mechanics about it, put it up on a lift, take photos, etc..
