passenger side rear, CV boot is busted and grease is everywhere. Can it be repaired? Or do I need to buy new axle shaft? Would this work Ferrari 360 Axle Shaft Used P N 183552 | eBay
Thanks 2NA, will try to find out if CV is ok. When I'm driving/turning I don't hear any clicks. I hope its just the boot, new shaft is 1,600$
There's no reason to replace the shaft. Even if the joint is worn out, it's not an "expensive" part. It's a messy job and requires a few tools that not everyone has but if you're a serious DIYer it's possible.
Make sure to clean out all the old grease as it is probably sand "infected" by now. Even a little sand left behind will eventually grind the joint to bits.
Looks like I have the same problem. Where can I find the rebuild kit or at least a new boot set? Also, can this be causing a whining type sound in high gear with no load on the wheels? Thanks! -G
