What is a good deal on a 430 w/6-Speed Manual gearbox?

    Hello Everyone,
    I am just entering the world of Ferrari and I have made a few posts over the past few weeks and everyone has been very kind and welcoming.
    I am looking for a low mileage (under 5K-6K miles) super clean, no accidents, no stories, no paintwork Ferrari F430 Spider with a 6-Speed Manual gearbox that I can have a lot of fun with and take to some shows. I have come from owning a 2012 997 Porsche Turbo S Cabrio, Ford GT, many Dodge Vipers, Corvettes, Shelby GT500s, GTOs, etc..., but never a Ferrari, so I don't really know the market with these cars.
    Since I was a kid, I always dreamt of owning one of these beautiful beasts and I now have the bug for one. While a 458 is the top of the heap, I just HAVE to have a manual gearbox and the 430 Spider fits that bill. My 997 P-Car Turbo S with the PDK and paddles ultimately didn't prove to have that "fun" factor that I adore with traditional manual gearboxes and it lasted about 600 miles in my garage before I sold it.
    Ok, enough background...There are a couple cars out there that seem to fit my needs, but I don't know what I should expect to pay and how much wiggle room there is in pricing from dealerships. One car is at a Ferrrari dealer and the other at a dealership that posts quite a bit on this forum. The cars range from mid 150Ks-mid 180k. What can I expect to get these cars for in this economy?
    Also, everyone tells me that the 6-Speed Manual cars are difficult to re-sell because most people want the F1 tranny. Is this true and shouldn't I also be able to get one of these cars cheaper from a dealer if this is true? Funny thing, you talk to the dealers and they turn this around (just like a politician) make it seem like they are "the most desirable" ones to have...of course! Yet, some of these cars have been on the market for 6 months or better...How do you like to negotiate and where do you start at?
    Any thoughts and information would be greatly appreciated.

    Look at the thread that's going on right now dealing with the '06 430 stick. 3 pedal cars are hard to come by. Many buyers have to make sacrifices unless they are willing to wait for the perfect car.

    The car I'm referring to is well below the range you stated. List is 137.5k

    Based on the prices you are quoting, I assume you are looking for a spider since the berlinettas seem to top out at around $150k. As a data point, I paid about 4% less than asking price on my '08 F430 F1 coupe.

    Also, I am aware of the recent similar post, but I am looking for a low mileage F430 Spider and they are harder to find. There are plenty of 10,000+ mile cars out there and they seem to sell in the upper $125+ to low $130K range. Plenty of comps out there to support that price point.

    If your set on a particular color combo with the stick, you will probably have to pay very close to the asking price. I know of two local owners that have sub 5k mile 430 spider sticks and neither would sell for less than 180k. Even though that number is high and not quite in line with the market, it might give you an idea at how owners value them.

    6 speeds are rare. Spiders add to the rarity. A spider in a stick with your color preference might be a needle in the haystack if your looking to get a good price. My suggestion? Pay up for a great example because the future buyers will probably do the same.

    I was fortunate enough to find an F430 Spider with a manual transmission in desired colors, and under 2,500 miles, in October of 2011. I was not looking for such a car at the time, but have followed ads on e-Bay Motors and the DuPont registry since then, and no similar car has ever appeared. I may have paid more than others would have thought prudent, but I hope to keep the car long-term, and I know that there will be no more manuals. Exterior and interior colors were important to me, as were low miles and the manual. My advice to you would be to keep an eye on prices, and wait for a car that appeals to you, regarding options and colors. Don't just buy any manual-equipped Spider, or you will end up unhappy, and will probably lose a bundle of money if your try to sell it quickly. Fred

    You might want to buy the August 2012 issue of Forza--issue # 119--which has an F430 buyer's guide. For a good-condition Spider with about 10,000 miles,they give a price range of $135,000 to $155,000. Back issues are available.

    There are some threads on this if you try search...IIRC total 430 production was in the 20k range.

    From the Forza article: about 15,000 Berlinettas and Spiders,about 2,000 Scuds,claimed 499 16Ms,over 80% of total are F1.
