I saw this car yesterday. Only the 2nd one I've seen in person, so I obviously don't know what I'm looking at. Car presented very well. Original interior, exterior has been re-painted, but it isn't pristine (swirls and scratches). They have records for the last 10 years, didn't have time yesterday to view them.

Car fax is clean....but first entry was from 2003

If anyone sees anything that shouldn't be there, or things missing please let me know.

Pricewise, I guess $117k is about right. Last Summer, there were several priced lower but stock right now seems to be low.

    Thanks

Nice add, nice pics - interior and underneath pics are close up which the car shows well. Not sure about the 10 feet away paint pics. Have you seen this car up close ? I would call Bob who did the work on this car and see what he recalls to confirm or deny. Pricing isn't bad , ask how old the trx tires are ......throw a decent offer at them and see how they bite, the worst they can do is say "no".

What's the deal with the parking light on the front passenger's side? It looks like the front corner got wacked.

Radio and equalizer are not original.

Look like a pretty nice car. I wish they woudl straighten the front right rectangular light built into the bumper; stuff like that drives me crazy. These cars have a fair amount of space from the body over the rear tires but this one seems to be sitting a bit high; maybe not, hard to tell for the pictures. Left rear camber does not appear to match right. These cars run a fair amount of rear camber so might need a quick check - not a big deal.

Its hard to go wrong with these cars at where they are priced so long as you don't fight major mechanical/cosmetic bills.

    My favorite car.

    Regards,

    Drew Altemara

From the ad, it looks like a nice but not great car.

In addition to others, I can't figure out the front bumper cover and those cock eyed lights. Even moreso, that lower front piece just doesn't seem to fit right, like it has been tweeked. Could be the pictures, but something just catches my eye wrong. I am with Drew, looking at that front light would drive me nuts, and even more glaring on a Boxer bottom.

Also, where is the "Ferrari" on the rear deck? hmm. Wonder if it was eliminated on a repaint? I have never seen a Boxer without it, as far as I know it came from the factory as in the pic below.

Seems the door panels are separating from the door, from the underneath view. Don't see the spare tire or cover for it, just might not be in the pics.

Murph already pointed out the radio and equalizer. Equalizer looks similar to original, but didn't the earlier BBi's have the 5 band rather than the 7 band?

Lastly, I'm guessing the seats have been recovered. They have more of a 400i overstuffed look rather than the commonly less padded original.

It's probably my imagination, but the driver's side front wheel seems to be strangely placed within the wheel well.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess the consensus is this is a car with lots of strange issues, and not worth persuing at this price.

Is there a price where you live with all this stuff (fix or forget about it)? What would that be?

I would not give up so easily!

(But the crooked turn lamp lens in front is inexcusable....)

Does this VIN show up on our "known cars"???

remember, its good to find flaws but as Big Tex says don't throw in the towel so easily. this car is 30yrs old - there may be a lot that's good and the fixes are easy. nothing is turnkey.

I would see this car and make a few measurements before spending south of $120k, a huge offset on both front and rear is strange, maybe its just the angle the photo was taken.

i agree. i hate to see this car get too badly shot down from pictures alone. it may be a decent car...we tend to quickly throw the baby out w/ the bath water.

just looked at the pics of the car on the rack...right and left side. camber front and rear looks similar and not out of whack. i think a call to gary bobileiff would give any prospective buyer the info they need.

shark...conduct your due dili w/ those that can or have had their hands on the car.

It's so difficult to see what's really going on with the wheels; it could easily be an optical illusion caused by the way the light is striking the tyres.

And because I'm so far out of my comfort zone, I will spook easily.

Are there any reference or restoration manuals?

I guess the next logical step is to look over the documentation they have.

    Thanks everyone!
