Regazzoni drove #28 Williams in 1979 to 2nd place at Monaco. Was Reutemann in #28 in 1980?

You are exactly correct, ironically had Lole stuck around in 1982 he might have finally won the WDC that eluded him. 1980 was going to be Alan Jones year, 1981 just seemed to fall apart in Las Vegas. Lole seemed to make his moves at just the wrong time (other than the Brabham to Ferrari move). I heard an interesting podcast a while back where said his greatest accomplishment in racing in Formula 1 was just surviving.

Isobel is absolutely correct. Both of the photos I posted of the #28 Williams coming out of Casino apparently were from 1980, and not 1979. My mistake. Reutemann drove the #28 Williams in 1980, Regazzoni drove it in 1979, no question about that. Case solved. I took my recently posted Monaco photos 32 and 33 years ago...sometimes one year gets a little confused with another. Nevertheless, I still like those photos, albeit of amateur quality, as they show a backdrop unique to Monaco not usually seen in press photos.

Yeah, but about 20 posts could have been eliminated if I had only remembered that I could not have shot the Casino action shots in 1979, because I was in the pits that year helping my brother, a F1 team manager.

I agree with RP, thanks Zeus for your participation. The 3 liter formula was my favorite, I was totally into F1 at the time. I have photos of the Glen from 1974 through 1980 somewhere.

I am not ashamed, this thread is a place for us old farts to meet and remember the good old days of racing.

    Well sort of good.

When sex was safe, and racing was dangerous. The good thing about getting old(er), is now the racing is becoming more fun, and the sex, well........

Peter, you're partly correct. My ATS photos were actually from the 1980 race, as was the Scheckter photo. In 1979 Lammers drove for Shadow, in 1979 Stuck drove the #9 ATS, and Lammers drove the #9 ATS in 1980. In 1981 Slim Borgudd, with sponsorship from ABBA, not Lammers, drove the #10 ATS car.

I do remember some details. How about some F2...seems to be neglected on this thread. These two photos were taken at the 1978 European F2 Championship races at Mugello and Vallelunga (one week later), Italy. The first photo is of Keke Rosberg and Eje Elgh (and my wife, sorry I couldn't crop her out) before the start of the Mugello race. I must have said something like "OK, on the count of three give me your most pensive look"...or maybe "I just saw Derek Daly, Eddie Cheever and Bruno Giacomelli do their warm up laps and you guys don't stand a chance." (They didn't, Derek won both races.) The second photo is Keke in the Chevron-Hart on the Vallelunga starting grid. Keke won the Donington Park, England, F2 race two weeks later. Eje now does the F1 broadcasts for Swedish TV.

Yes, that was on another thread posted by rdefabri on this forum in connection with the stellar lineup in the 1977 Atlantic series. I have lots of Atlantic photos hanging around somewhere, and most involve the same players as F1. As you know, back in those days many F1 drivers drove in multiple series. Trois Rivieres was a favorite venue for those drivers. On our team alone, we had Patrick Depailler, Jacques Laffite, Keke Rosberg, Arturo Merzario, Riccardo Patrese, Alan Jones, Patrick Tambay, Jean-Pierre Jarrier, Jean-Pierre Jaussaud, Hector Rebaque (and others) drive over a three year period. I'll post some photos if I can find them.

Thanks, i ask you this for a specific reason:
In that year, there where some amazing batles between Gilles and Keke, there is one in particular (i can´t crealy recall the track but i can find out) where they whre both in front of the pack and had (in someone´s words the biggest batle ever seen in motorsport, even more spectacular than dijon 79). Aparently Gilles and Keke tangked several times, they left the track together flying and come back...seems it was something unreal....do you recall something like this? are there any footage of f.atlantic races?

That was Mosport. If I recall correctly, Gilles ended up finishing 2nd. I don't know of any video footage of those races, which, of course, doesn't mean that they don't exist.

One of my all-time favorite race photos was taken, I believe at Mosport, with Keke rounding a very fast corner with his rear tire pressing so hard against the barrier that it appears to be totally deformed. Of course it was just Keke being Keke. Gilles drove in a similar style. If someone can find that photo it would really make a great post, and show other viewers of this thread what we're talking about!

Thanks Tom. I remembered it a bit different, and thought it was from Mosport, but it must be the same photo. Where did you find it?

    Zeus-

just did a Google search for Rosberg Chevron, found a version of the image and then looked for the larger sized versions. There were other pics of Rosberg in the search, some that showed the rear tires really being worked out of shape. Miss those days...

great photos on this site, copyright Marc Sproule:
