Having followed this thread sporadically over time, I have to say it is the oddest mixture of opinion, rumor, speculation, and just plain silliness to be found in the FChat slate of Forums. While a few people have contributed facts and interesting perspectives, by and large, the information content is low. Is it fun? Maybe if you have nothing better to do. Fortunately the long wait is nearing its end.
Interesting thread indeed... It's been fun just watching the madness go down, now just a few more days until the renderings and rumors go away!
OH God the McLaren Marching and Chowder society has invaded the F70 thread again. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No fan. Just like to hear about the subject of the thread in the thread. I keep coming down here and hear more talk about the Mac than the F70. I'm not alone. The F70 is an important and interesting car. Can't we discuss it? Instead of getting some interesting new tidbit, I see a discussion of a completely different car. There's a thread already about the Porsche vs P1 vs F70. It's not enough? I've never commented there but the discussion is quite interesting. All three have have something different to say. If I'm a fan boy, why am I not posting in this thread about the evils of McLaren and the absolute godlyness of the F70? Seems odd, no? If there were a thread in the British section discussion E type Jags, I think we can avoid every comment to discuss 275 gtb's.
Nonsense! The Porsche 918 has a drag coefficient of 0.34, which is exactly the same as P1's, but it generates half the amount of downforce of P1!
It's funny - and sad - that some people think its more important to have the fastest lap time; lowest CD, most downforce, best hybrid setup, if not the car is going to be a failure compared to the other. Last time I checked the Enzo was a universal success, in sales, and in marketing (which Ferrari did NONE; smart to let the magazines and blogs do all that), the Mclaren F1 was older, and probably faster, it was a universal success as well. But Both were basically slower than the Bugatti. And in the end - it doesn't mean Sh*t. They were all amazing cars, each different and successful in their own right. Never met an Enzo owner that was embarrassed their car might be slower than the other two... Sad that some mega-successful people seem as insecure as teenagers over 'which car is faster'.... Lol Kevin
I respect those that participate in this forum, and more particularly those that are so deeply invested in this conversation regarding which manufacturer is offering the greater product. With this in mind.... it is increasingly evident that I must purchase one of each. The Enzo successor, a P1, as well as the 918. I will then run a series of non-biased tests of each marque. I promise to report my findings as to bring finality to this heated debate that tears the very thread of our civility. I'm willing to endure the misery for the betterment of my F-Chat brethren. No need to thank me..... the harmony of a united community shall be my only reward. Cheerio
I have personally found this thread very entertaining/enjoyable. Why are internet forums viewed by some as sheer information platforms? Do you sit down to dinner with friends and talk about food the entire time? Still, bring on the reveal. It's about time.
I think that is the only way to know for sure and I'm also thinking of buying one of each, turning them into proper race cars and running them against each other at The 24 Hours of Nurburgring to see which is really the one for me. I do like road cars that are turned into race cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Of course he hasn't! He is just very, very angry with Ferrari because they said "NO" to him.... I have seen and gone over both the Mac and the Ferrari in detail. The Mac which I saw first, had me concerned about the Ferrari. I was wrong, very wrong. The Mac (and for that matter the 918, which has made its CO2 emissions a focal point) have taken a beating in terms of technological prowess. As for looks they are in the eye of the beholder - even if I have yet to meet ANYONE who is not left speechless by the F150's lines. In any event, tuesday the 5th is the day. As to lap times, Jim's imagination can keep us entertained - even though he would do better to found a MacChat site or a frustrated car collector site. I have seen the Fiorano lap times of the Mule and well, hohohoho it's going to be Christmas all over again!!
Yep, I understand many great minds contributed to the F150 regardless of where they were from. Kudos to Ferrari for making that happen. I know several great people who were involved.
Who has "beaten" them in terms of technology prowess? Right now, they are the two most technologically proficient production cars out there.
For those who don't know him, and in an effort to shape the perspective on comments being made by 'ChalStrad' in the same way he has tried to do with Jim, it may be important to note that Peter is the President of the Ferrari Club France. He's also a Corse Clienti customer and it's a fair bet with all this praise he's been raining on the F150 that he'll likely be bringing one home. Not to suggest he is lying with his overly abundant praise of the new Ferrari, but I'd be surprised to hear him say anything else about it than what he has already shared. >8^) ER
I don't think so, Peter is a great collector and very passionate fan of Ferrari , but he's also critic with the cavallino if he don't like something (ask to him an opinion of an f12) There Are other forum to talk about McLaren...or other tread...
I am not here to discuss McLarens, I am here to discuss Ferraris. However, when the topic strays I am one of the more qualified and knowledgeable people around to address those comments. If you look back through this thread, except in some rare instances, you'll find I have only mentioned McLaren in this thread when others have first. I will continue to do so when I deem it necessary. >8^) ER
