    Wow.

Was checking out the local dealers inventory for my daughter today - they have 22 Abarth's on the lot!

Haven't really been following lately, but I guess they are not hard to get anymore...

I actually think the opposite will happen. The Abarth is rated at 34 hwy mpg, which is good but not great these days and relatively bad considering the small size and hp. I think this will push folks to the Sport, which is now rated at 40 mpg.

I don't know. I think the typical Abarth buyer is not that concerned with mpg. I feel like its such a niche car that you either want one or your dont. I know I wouldn't have bought anything but the Abarth and I don't really see someone looking at the sport or whatever stepping up to the price of an Abarth. They just seem like two different cars to me.

I tend to agree- this is certainly a niche car for racers & track-day enthusiasts to use as a daily driver, and the disparity in price between the Abarth and the Sport is still pretty significant.

FWIW I just checked my dealer's site, 12 of the 64 2013s are Abarths.

I hear you but I do believe there are buyers that are willing and able to spend b/w $20K and $23K and decide among a well optioned Sport, a few options Turbo (if available), and a no options Abarth. MPG will likely be part of the decision process for those buyers with a long commute. IMHO. :) YMMV. :D

I agree. Abarth will go to gear heads who want a fun toy for their commute. Besides, 34 is optimistic, on my 66 daily highway miles I've been averaging about 25. I don't care. But I do wish I had a bigger tank.. Any endurance aftermarket tanks yet?

How long have you had the car? I was getting 25-30 when new. Now that I hit 18,000 miles, I am averaging at least 34 MPG. Mixed highway and stop and go.

Curious, you doing your own calc or relying on the dash reading?

According to the trip computer I'm getting around 39 mpg during my mostly highway 70 mile round trip commute, though a Sport with 15k miles.

My 35mpg is doing the math by hand based on gallons into the tank and miles driven. The dash readout is typically about 2mpg higher than that.

I drive in sport only. I get mid thirties on the highway, mid to high twenties around town (when I'm driving rationally of course).
