Just installed rebuilt steering rack in my 348 friend. Any one got any ideas about doing a quick and dirty alignment. I need to drive about 20 miles to get to the shop for a complete, correct alignment. Any help would be appreciated, greatly
Did you take note of how many revolutions it took to unscrew the end of the steering rack from the tie ends? If so, put them back with the same number of revolutions. Try to steer the wheels into a straight position, align the steering wheel with respect to the steering rack where the two join up. Take a short drive around the block, if you are close enough, then proceed to the alignment shop. If your steering wheel is more than 45 degrees off center, move it one notch to the other direction to be close enough to drive.
