Guys you have all been so wonderful with your emails and PM's on a couple of prospective dealers that i am thinking for visiting. This particular car is of high interest on my short list. Please PM or email me if you do not feel comfy leaving your thoughts here. this is a very big purchase for me as i waited a long time for this and want to do it right.

I think they were one of the dealers I researched before I bought mine (local, i'm in NH) and was highly considering a purchase with them. Literally the ONLY reason I did not was that a car was available closer to me and I really really really wanted not red or yellow and found the Grigio to be ideal. My calls to them were good, and I know a few people on here have purchased from them so I'll let them chime in but it was one of the better long-distance dealers I worked with (some blew me off thinking I was not a serious buyer... was anoying...)

JAKE'S is great that's where I bought my 360 last year. Very professional and seems to only stock cars that are in outstanding condition. I got some service done AFTER I paid for the car and when shop found small oil leak, Jake's paid for the fix. Who does that? I would definitely look them up first if I am in the market for another car

Curious as to what people think about them also. I contacted them recently about a car and the communication via email was good. We weren't able to "make a deal" at this time since there was a disparity on the value of a potential trade in which admittedly is outside of their usual inventory. I was a little put off though at the quick suggestion that I would want to finance any difference to make a deal work. I generally don't like when people want me to finance anything but I realize that this is the way of life for a car salesman so I cut him some slack. We didn't get to work through to the next phases of a transaction..... unfortunately!

I recently purchased an 05' F430 thru Jakes. I dealt with Mike Loomis exclusively.
Very easy and pleasant to work with.
    Two thumbs up!!!!

I purchased a 430 from them last year. They have a great inventory. They also stand by their product. I had an issue and they were there to take care of any problems.

Highly recommend them. My salesperson was Mike Ohly he treated me very well.

    Good luck with your purchase.

I'm a financer if the rates are good (like sub 4% short term) since the market is still unstable and I'd rather have a little extra cash. I appreciate dealers getting creative at times and this would not be offputting for me. I can, however, see the issue in trade disparity but this may be more of an issue with local markets as well.

As for the "who takes care of you by fixing _____ when they find it" I can answer with: "Any dealer that wants you to come back for your next car". I loved my Lotus Elise but when gremlins cropped up just after buying it I was paying out the rear for it. Nothing about fixing the door/window issue, the electrical problems, etc. $2000 later the car was great, but I never felt they REALLY went out of the way. My sales guy was AWESOME but I'm an email kinda guy (work a lot of nights, dealers open when I sleep) and their service team is not so it was hard booking service. They also never offered to drive me to the train station after dropping my car off for a multi-day service. Its nearly an hour walk. I walked. In the pouring rain.
On the other hand, Ferrari of NE did most of my research by email, was prompt, they fixed a number of small gremlins after purchase for no cost (offered to flatbed the car several times), they let me schedule service online and ask questions so I can print them out. Sent me all kinds of material. Registered the car for me, helped me through the process. Gave me a good deal on a trade as well (but I did not haggle car cost). They drove me to/from the local train SEVERAL times and were never inconvenienced by it. Got a free test drive in a Maserati for that as well. As such, AstonMartin/Lotus Motorsports lost my business and Ferrari of New England has a customer for life.

A place like Jake's probably realizes that you take care of people, or their next $100k+ purchase will be somewhere else.

When I first started my search recently spoke to Mike Ohly about a ponzi blue 355 which I really liked and he was very accomodating..Would have had no problem buying from him as he even came way down on price too but in the end I bought a 350 locally from ferrari Long Island and couldnt be happier. I would say they are good and have nice documented cars not to mention they are within a few miles of a couple of top notch ferrari guys for a PPI..

    good luck

This is a good thing to think, and hearing about real experiences is good. I still don't know who Roy is though! Their location being in San Diego is strategic for me so I keep checking this thread as I would do for any location on the West Coast.

It's not a question of whether Jakes is "reliable." Of course they are or they would not stay in business. The question is whether they offer an advantage in price or service relative to buying from say a franchised dealer. Then consider if it is worth it.

    Kevin,

just don't buy "my" car i'm looking at! j/k. if it gets sold from under me, so be it. not meant to be in my stable.

as for "reliable", i simply meant that i can depend on them for being good honest sales people that are not pushing sub-par exotics that will fall apart or had some stories hidden. Fromthe sounds of it, they may not be. Hence, i would most likely move fwd with my purchase if the car is available.

sounds a like a new thread is coming..."need PPI for an F430 in San Diego"....

I just closed a deal on a 430 at Jakes late last week. They were great to work with, took care of everything and made shipping arrangements for me as well. I should recieve the car by the end of this week!

I visited them about a week before I bought - they are definetely a first class dealership. I dealt with both Mike Loomis whi was my primary contact and Mike Ohly when I visited to dealer as Mr. Loomis was not in the office that morning.

I saw the red 05 - great looking car!

Hi Danny! Thanks for the kind words! Hope it stops raining out there so you can enjoy the car more!

Hi Doug! Thank you as well! Your car was picked up yesterday and is en route. You will be burning gas is no time.

It's been a pleasure working with both of you. Thanks again.
