Sorry for asking this without a pic, but I could not get the cell camera ready fast enough.
This was on a highway and it drove past me too fast but it was a specially beautifull model.
What caught my eye were the very wide rear wheels/tires, four exhaust pipes and Carrera S badge. Wheel arches were obviously extra wide to accomodate the larger than normal tires.
It is obviously a recent year model, but maybe you gurus out there can tell me if it is likely to be earlier than 2010, or is it newer than 2010. Which Porsche is this? gorgeous car. Thanks.

Impossible to tell without the picture....... But considering you saw the Carrera S badge I think you know yourself. I believe all the S models have 4 exhaust pipes and at least a 295 rear tire. The 4/4S have 305s.

Just do a google images search for Carrera S and post a pic of what you saw. You'll get more info than you care for; the Porsche crowd tends to be really helpful and eager to share.

Might have been a Carrera 4S - they always look extra wide to me from the rear.
I believe the 4S model uses the same wider rear fenders as the Turbo model.

Here is a web pic of a 2005 Carrera 4S:
