I took the cover off my car this morning to find this on the back of the rear deck lid. I put the cover on after the last drive and did not notice it. I also changed the oil recently and didn't see it at that time either. The car has been covered in the garage at all times. During our last drive we didn't stop anywhere so I am trying to figure out what caused this. I guess it is time to get a repair estimate.

    Something hit it pretty hard.

    Garages are dangerous places.

That wasn't just a rake falling over.

By any chance did you take your car with you the last time you played golf? Sorry about your baby.

+1 If you have kids that is the likely cause. Things just happen.

Can't tell if the paint is scratched or if the white is just a reflection. If the paint is okay, paintless dent repair can work wonders and is incredibly cheap. I have any door dings fixed on my Audi with every oil change . $99 a ding. Keeps it looking brand new.

Nope didn't take it to the golf course and my twin sons are 20 y/o and know to be careful. I haven't interrogated them yet. :)

    There is some paint removal.

I guess s*^* happens. I may try my dent removal specialist to see if he can correct it. He was able to successfully remove a dent from a golf ball on the top of the rear deck lid a few years back. If not, off to the body shop.

I beleive that area has a double wall and the Dent Wizard may not be able to get to the dent on the inside. That may be one where you have to apply bondo to the outside and refinish.

Similar dent on mine but much less severe...a scratch actually. It was the garage door center track that sticks out and when you run the door up and down without the clearance....bang! I closed my door wight the lid up like a dummy and scratched it.

If so, that would make her the ex-wife. :)

Neither of the kids admitted being close to it so it remains an unsolved mystery. I am not mad about I just wish I knew how it happened so I could try and prevent it from occurring again.

I will update the thread if the dent removal specialist is successful.

Have you taken out your car and park it on a public parking area like groceries store etc.?

Nope, the area was like new after our last drive and confirmed when I changed the oil. It was hit by something after it was in the garage. We rarely leave the garage door open unless we are in there but it would only take a second for a neighbor kid to do something.

My suspicion is the the child next door who is autistic rides his razor scooter all day long up and down the sidewalks and driveways. He may have accidentally hit it while on one of his tours of the neighborhood. He is a great kid and I would never question him or his parents (our friends). Things happen. I will get it repaired and move on but I admit the first sight of it left me a little chapped.

Too bad.. At least red paint is easy to fix/match. Silver much more difficult to match..

looks to me like maybe the garage door was open, deck lid on the car was closed and someone backed their car/ pickup/ vehicle Up the driveway with a long flat object sticking out of the back and into your deck lid by accident unaware they even did it. Where's Magnum when we need him.

Now that is funny and the damage appears that it would have been caused by such a cannon.

A few years ago I decided to clean up my garage. I propped a big, solid work-bench up against the back door and left it there, then exited the garage via the front car entry garage door and went inside for lunch. Later, and distracted by other thoughts, I came back to continue the task but this time entered via the back door. As I tried to open the door (which opened inwards) I thought there seemed to be a bit of resistence to it opening, so I gave it a bit of a shove but just as I did that I remembered the work-bench leaning on the other side! And I also remembered that the Ferrari was parked exactly where it was going to fall! And it was too late - the resistence was gone and the work-bench toppled onto the front wing of the Ferrari - This really was an "oh, ****!" moment! I could not believe I had been so stupid. Fortunately, the leg of the bench only hit the guard, just missing the bonnet and headlight, which would have really complicated the damage! Such is life!

    Cheers,

    Grahame

Another time a possum got in the garage and ran around a shelf where I had a bucket full of old nuts and bolts and whatsamacallits that you collect just in case you'll ever need one of those... Anyway, the possum knocked this bucket full of metal bits and pieces off the bench and staight into the side of the Ferrari - nice collection of chips on the door as a result. Garages can be a car health hazard! :(
