Ok, who is going to issue first an "FXX" model of this LeFerrari! just put a rear wing, some aerodynamic device, new wheels,... and show us what should be the right version of this car!
The Styling The overall styling of the car is beautiful. A good mix of classic and modern. The lines are sharp and almost every part of the car is well integrated. You get the sense that the car is very thought-through which creates a certain flow when you explore the lines - sleek despite its massive size. The car seems well-proportioned, however I would have prefered a smaller front overhang. Even more so, the styling fits perfectly with Ferrari's current design language. A few design details I'm not too keen on; the shark- like outlet on the front bonnet looks weird from a lot of angles and obstructs the design of the front, the space for the number plate is not very well executed and really looks like an afterthought. And I'm still not a big fan of 458-styled headlights. On the other hand, the engine cover is a masterpiece (with its intakes and outlets) and I love the teardrop-design of the rear window. In fact, the shape of the cockpit is just stunning. The mirrors are beautiful. And I adore the subtle design cues such as the 156 F1-nose and the black F40/F50-stipe at the rear . The Specs 0-300 in 15 sec. is insane and a huge achievement and much better than I even hoped for. Top speed is, as expected, very good. 0-100 in under 3 sec. is very impressive as well. The power-output is just awesome. And if the weight turns out to be as low as 1255 kg then it's out of this world. The car sounds like a complete monster - I'm very impressed. The Name Honestly, I don't think they could have chosen a much dumber name. Even when the Enzo (presented as Ferrari Enzo Ferrari) was released it sounded a tad stupid with the extra "Ferrari" and is therefore only refered to as the Enzo. Clearly, they haven't learned anything from that. I have no clue why they settled on Ferrari LaFerrari (meaning: Ferrari the Ferrari). The name is beyond stupid. ... All in all, a very impressive effort from Ferrari. Should've called the Ferrari Bellissimo.
I've kind of already said my piece, but to recap the name is dreadfully bad. In that photo with Luca holding up his hand where I made my joke, there are about 40 people behind the car who failed to convince him they could come up with something better. I think next time they need to poll their customers and enthusiasts for something more fitting and less gag-inducing. As for the styling, it is a mixed bag. I don't think the design is very cohesive. Someone had said prior to the reveal that it looked like a mixture of design elements in different sections of the car. The proof on this in my eyes is that from different angles it does not look like the same car. Perhaps seeing it in person will allow me to absorb all the details and have the design make sense. It did look better on video that it does in still shots, so that's a good sign. The biggest visual mistake seems to be the use of very similar headlights to what we see on the rest of the lineup right now. This car could have given them the chance to break that mold and move the markers forward to a new design. The use of these lights seems very unimaginative whereas they clearly have pushed the limits on other elements of the car. Anyway, I am not a designer so no need to attack me for my comments - it is just what I see. I think the most disappointing aspect of all these cars is we will likely never see a fair fight between them. Numbers on paper can be made to say anything - apparently Ferrari are claiming 1,255 kg dry weight for this according to AutoCar and I struggle to understand how that could ever be possible. It would be nice to see an independent test that compares all aspects, from weight to dyno-measured power, using tires that are off the shelf, not cut from a special slick like it seems Pagani did for their Top Gear Power Lap. Anyway, it was exciting to see the new Ferrari unveiled finally, but I'm not in love with it and I don't expect it will displace the F50 from my 'favorite' slot. >8^) ER
Hehe, I actually had Seinfeld on when I read that! Anyway, it does look a LOT better in black! So good even that I could see myself in it one day. Would love to see one all blacked out.
The LaFerrari is a technological masterpiece. I am a bit disappointed with the overall appearance of the vehicle though. When I first saw the Enzo I fell in love. The LaFerrari not so much. That being said I imagine in the flesh it looks even better.
Wow. Awesome looking car. In one moment, makes the Enzo look very old school. Performance stats look unbelievable! Only details that irritate: 1. The name- it's daft 2. The windscreen wiper. Seriously looks like an after thought which is a shame when every other detail looks great. I'm off to Maranello at the end of March to see this baby! Can't wait to see it in the flesh...
What does "right orientation" mean? This is not a career class! It's the side profile of a hypercar and if it fits its aerodynamic/cooling purposes then it has the right orientation!
The LaFerrari is very impressive and a worthy successor. The name? Personally, I'm gonna call it the LF.

In a couple of seconds, I did a better job than Ferrari at designing a good looking side of the car. An air intake in visually correct and visually harmonic orientation and angle. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Lambofreak - we get your point. Maybe give it a rest for a little while. I suspect by your commentary you were not going to be a customer to begin with so you haven't been robbed of anything here. >8^) ER
In the vehicle dynamics movie on the laferrari website you can see that it moves outwards and upwards
I'm not crazy about the side but that definitely isn't a solution. Check out the car in Nero on the site. That's the color!!!! Smoking hot and helps the profile immensely. I love the front and rear views. Showed my wife the pics and she loved it. Told her the name and she was still laughing as she walked out the door for work.
And yet you have still not be hired as a designer?? Surely car companies must be searching the internet looking for someone of your caliber to adjust designs without taking any airflow/aero principles into account. On a serious note: 0-186 in 15.5 seconds is ridiculous.
We could call it the Ferrari Laffer/Laugher/Laughter - since that's what the name induces, and it's kind of spelled that way too. >8^) ER
Lol! It's like meeting a hot supermodel that was named Chlamydia by her parents!!! What were they thinking?
