The clever thing about keeping the battery pack weight down (to 132 pounds), and giving the gas motor an opportunity to charge it, is that the energy density of gas is MUCH better than the energy density of a battery (even state-of-the-art lithium). Keep battery weight as low as possible, but charge at every opportunity (kinetic energy from braking, plus energy stored in gas) ====> saves weight :) :)

    My first take

Better looking than the Mac P1 (by a lot)

Better thought out that that the gaudy Lambo disaster child's toy

    More serious than the Pagani

But somehow.... doesn't quite do it for me. Maybe a bit too much 458 in it while I was expecting something a bit more radical. Like the side profile, and the 3/4 views but the front and back views.... hmmmm.

A vast improvement in styling over the Enzo while preserving much of its F1 inspiration. It is much softer in form and resembles the 458 in its overall form and swoopy styling cues. The front beak seems a bit too pronounced but is still improved over the more cubist Enzo. The view comes alive in the side view and conveys a sense of extreme motion even while still. The airflow management seems well integrated and prevents the car from appearing too soft. The rear carries recent Ferrari evolution a significant step further and integrates well.

The name good God the name. The septum up front is certainly a "nice" touch. I think the nicest way that it can be put is that it is interesting. Yeah, i'll go with that...interesting.

Reading the website, it's quite clear that Ferrari paid a LOT of attention to aerodynamic downforce on the front tires ... ;)

    VERY well done Ferrari :)

Anytime you can add a horsepower at the cost of less than a pound of weight is good.

    My 2 cents.

The car is stunning. To me the 458 had influences from the P4/5, which Luca liked enough to badge a Ferrari against all odds, and to me this does too.

As for the name, I am surrpised. It will be interesting if an enthusiasts nick name sticks. It would not be the first time. The Top gear photos are Intersting with the official F150 badge still being used. Who knows, people may call it the LF150

Lighter weight battery pack, charged at every opportunity (kinetic during braking, plus gas during over-rev) is the smart way to go, to save weight :)

    VERY well done Ferrari :)

I'm waiting for all the Fchatters to jump off a bridge today after hearing Ferrari made it's first hybrid.

Don't do it! It's not the end of the world!

IMHO the Pagani huayra looks much more superior to the Laferrari, and the 918 looks much more beautiful and timeless in design than the Laferrari.

I cannot imagine a full marketing department working weeks or months to issue such a name at the end!?

You're forgetting that Ferrari outsources all of their marketing.

    :)
