KERS = KINETIC energy recovery system

In it's most basic form, KERS means battery charging from brakes only. But Ferrari's technology charges the batteries in two ways :

    - from the brakes
    - from the gas motor, which can intentionally over-rev during cornering to not only charge the batteries, but keep the RPM high-ish for even better throttle response on exit

Now i do agree that charging from the gas motor, as well as the brakes, is quite standard in "hybrid" cars, but not necessarily "KERS" cars ... but i think the weight (and performance enhancement) targets that Ferrari have achieved are pretty damn impressive. The drivetrain needs to be more complex to allow alternate-path charging; achieving this while keeping the weight down is no simple task!

I'm surprised no one has complained that the car has a stereo. Either way Ferrari will be offering a stereo delete option along with a couple others that will lighten the car. Also to reference something earlier in the thread, Autoblog is wrong about the weight, Autoblog, wrong yet again, now there's a headline. Does that site just make up things as it goes along?

I couldn't see the stereo in the interior shot. I still think it's OK to have one, even if it probably won't get much use. Sometimes you want to listen to music....

Another question I have is, where the hell did they film that promo video? Because seriously, that is a real feat these days to be able to carry a video shoot of your flagship model without ANY leaks whatsoever... Unless it's computer generated (doesn't look like it), it is really amazing that they managed to pull it off. Hat tip to them for being able to do so, from someone working in the ad industry...

The car is impossibly low as it is, some 3 cm lower than an Enzo! It's ground clearance must be minimal. I for one am glad that they haven't jumped on the huge wheels bandwagon! 19 and 20 inches are fine as they accommodate the brakes and keep weight as low as possible. 22" bling-bling wheels are nice if you are a rapper, not a racer!

I find the performance absolutely amazing! Less than 15s for the 0-300 km/h dash is out of this world and Fiorano in under 1:20 on standard road tyres (Z-Zeros, not even sticky Corsas - not to mention Trofeo semis!) is astonishing given the close nature of the track. LaFerrari will show its true capabilities in more open and faster venues. ;)

    2. the front is dissapointing because of the 458 headlights

    3. the side looks good

    4. the back looks amazing/gorgeous/epic - imo it doesn't have ANY P4/5 styling lines

When you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in an Enzo, you wish you had a stereo very quickly.

I can't get too specific but the curb weight is over 3,000lbs and under 3,300. No where near as low as 2,700lbs.

What we found works really well is a mini ipad for NAV and Stereo that can plug into small mounted powered speakers. The GPS works world wide.

I hate to say this but very, very few miles in these cars will be spent in bumper to bumper traffic. It is unfortunate that most will become garage queens.

Agreed. I wasn't saying it's a bad thing, in fact I welcome it. It's just one of the first things people complained about with the 430 Scuderia and 599GTO. Although, having been in an Enzo modified to have a small stereo, there are much better things to hear music in than a carpet-less carbon fiber tub. :)

In the end, you have to say these things:

Is it better looking than any other car in their line up today? Yes.

Is it better looking than the car it replaced, the Enzo? Yes

It is technically equal if not superior to anything the competition is proposing? Yes

Will they sell every one of them they can make? Yes.

We can quibble about the name, but I think you would have to say mission accomplished for Team Ferrari.

    Spotted today:

The gentleman from the marketing firm that picked the "LaFerrari" name.

His career is on a roll for such a young age. Most recently, he was brought on by GM to design the taillights for the new C7 Corvette, and designing the PDK transmission for the new GT3 Porsche.

He is currently working for Lamborghini on finishing touches for their upcoming SUV.

    Very good question indeed!

The car has been in transport, not only towards that racetrack but also towards Geneva.
Amazing that there aren't any pictures during unloading and putting in place.
They must have had exellent and waterproof security.

I disagree that it's the best looking car in the line up. Give me a white F12.

Is it better looking than the Enzo? I say no.

Equal or superior to the competiton? Arguable. The 918 with it's true full electric ability tops the LF in regards to green technologies. 92MPH on battery only is very impressive, and unfortunately to those of us that bleed race gas is the way that they world is moving. Supercars are going to have to become more and more Earth friendly. Ferrari is certainly heading that way with this car, but are not at the top of the class.

Will they sell every single one? That answer is very obvious.
