The P1 shape flows ... does not look like they took their previous supercar and added a body kit, like the LaFerrari does.

Your arab transformer comment made me laugh, I wasn't laughing AT you. Why so serious? it would probably seem ironic to you because of my user name, but I'm not a hardcore fan girl of Lamborghini.. so you can say what you want about them, doesn't bother me

Perhaps stylistically an evolution. I think mechanically it's quite obviously a huge step forward.

True, but we can only really judge looks on an internet site :).

Peloton25, Last to reveal always has some advantage in the media, but again IMO the P1 wins the looks contest.

I'm assuming you're referring to the door mirrors? - If so, it's because of the various national vehicle safety legislations that dictate that modern production cars must be fitted with external mirrors.

In the UK for example, to be road legal a car must have at least two rear view mirrors, one of which must be mounted on the drivers door or front wing (fender). The other mirror can be mounted inside the car or on the passenger door or front wing.

As for the McLaren P1 Vs La Ferrari, I'm glad to see that Ferrari have made a better job of integrating the cockpit and roof-line into the design than McLaren did.

The Ferrari's waistline to roof ratio is spot on, whereas the P1 looks too top heavy. The side view on the P1 shows the height of the waistline to be about 1/3rd of the cars total height, and then the waistline to the roof makes up the remaining 2/3rds of the total height. This to Me throws all the proportions of the car out and makes it look like it's got a bubble sitting on top of it.

Ferrari have won the styling war as far as I'm concerned!

I suspect many will fall for it when they see one in the flesh. What they do not appreciate is when you are studying a car in the flesh it is not the styling that is winning you over, it is the engineering details. This happened with the Enzo, a styling failure, but that is forgotten when you take in all the clever engineering standing next to one.

And yes the P4/5 is the overall winner. I actually think the front of the P4/5 Comp is an improvement but have never liked the raw carbon fibre look ... looks unfinished.

Jim's p 4/5 should had been the new enzo. Way to go Jim. Design wise this was a weak offering. Interior looks like old enzo's. Yawn.

certainly the LaFerrari is an evolution of the Enzo, all great sportscar lines evolve (911, 308-to-458, etc) it makes sense for it to be, but keep in mind that it has far more new components in it's design than the 458 does from the 430, yet we don't hear the 458 being slagged as "just a modified 430"

I am still in disbelief Ferrari was stupid enough to do this.

Yesterday, I was checking over and over for updates, after this morning, I was pleased to see the car and thought it looked really cool, but after hearing the name, I have to say, I am stunned.

Honestly, this sounds like some kit car name trying to avoid Ferrari infringement issues.

The design is close to what I think we all hoped for and expected, but isn't anywhere near the feeling I had in seeing the P4/5.

Does anyone know if there was even a PF design proposal?

When Jim first posted the link to the laferrari.com sight, I was laughing thinking how funny it was, now, I am still trying to understand how this won out over the other possible names that were discarded.

I was shocked to learn the car is name La Ferrari. Have always been a big fan of Ferrari's special cars like Enzo, F50/40 but not a fan of La Ferrari. Design wise, i prefer Jim's P4/5. Perhaps Jim should do a ltd production run. I am sure there will be a good response.

If they're smart they will contemplate a change to the name of the first version in the next few months. ;)

The more I see it, the more I love it.

The name? It's terrible. Big mistake on their part.

Obviously everyone's got their own two cents, but I'd just like to add one point: I shared the photos on FB and Twitter...and everyone posted positive feedback. Not that means anything, but I think sometimes us "Ferrari guys" get a little too wrapped up in our world and are perhaps too close to the forest to see the trees.

Anyone agree or am I just nuts? lol

If you had a poll for the worst names, P1, Huayra and La Ferrari, i think we know who will win hands down.

It sounds like the name of someone who should be asking Maury who the real father of her baby is.

    Nice car though.

I think Ferrari hit a home run, the P1 and 918 are not even close especially with their V8s and rounder styling.

of course all the nay sayers can only dream of affording the $1 mill+ price tag, let alone being granted one.

I would call this one : "the Ferrari".

Not a fan of the mirrors or name, but who wouldn't want a street legal FXX Evo (with an extra 100hp) ? I can't imagine anyone who could afford and obtain this car taking a pass on the acquisition due to the name (or mirrors).

“We chose to call this model LaFerrari,” declared Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo, “because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence. Excellence in terms of technological innovation, performance, visionary styling and the sheer thrill of driving. Aimed at our collectors, this is a truly extraordinary car which encompasses advanced solutions that, in the future, will find their way onto the rest of the range, and it represents the benchmark for the entire automotive industry. LaFerrari is the finest expression of our company’s unique, unparalleled engineering and design know-how, including that acquired in Formula 1.”

Really? This is the rational? So the next cars are going to be just simple improvements, not "Maximum Expressions"?
