    Thanks!

It looks like we make become a factory team next year with a DP in GA/ALMS and either way are already working on our next Road car.

This is "Best of Show" IMO. The lines are so good I would have never guessed the chassis/drivetrain or engine placement.

Thanks for letting us in on the amazing story of the P 4/5 and The Ford.

Really wish I was headed to Amelia for the gathering of Ford GT's. I assume "The Ford" will be making it's appearance there.

These stories would make a great book. Have you considered writing ?

    What is THAT?!

Seems too low to be 430 or 458 based?

It's a clean slate Daytona Prototype that we're hoping to develop, engineer, build and race for a manufacture's return to Prototype racing in 2014 at the 24 hours of Daytona and the full GA/ALMS season.

We'd also develop their engine for the car.

Our next road project is different although we might use the same engine.

PF has sold some of their show cars to collectors. Andrea sold Dino Competizione to me.

If anyone is interested let me know and I'll put you in touch.

Absolutely they do - the best looking car in Geneva today.

And being based on the 458 Italia, it just shows what could be possible if Ferrari would leave the designing to the design house. I'd like to think that Ferrari will come to their senses and get back to letting Pininfarina design their cars, but after naming the new car 'LaFerrari' it is becoming clear they are far too vain.

A 'clean slate Daytona Prototype?' That's not an MC 12 (base)?

It looks MC12 themed, but certainly not MC12 based.

It is no surprise that Jim has chosen to sharpen his crusade in the wake of the LF.

I will not recycle the same arguments regarding the potential similarities between the P4/5 and the LF as we have been through them too many times.

However, I will say that I find this agenda pathetic and juvenile. This is below a man of his stature. Jim ought to let it go and move on.

Easy to say when it wasn't YOUR one-off car that cost you untold millions of dollars to build that was copied.

I take from your response that you agree that Jim is trying, for a lack of a better word, to prove that Ferrari copied elements from his P4/5 to the new LF.

Regarding your comment about the "millions of dollars" Jim has spent on this project - Jim wanted this specific car to be build and choose to do so. It is no different than buying any other product/service you fancy. I do not feel sorry for him, quite the contrary; he had the money and contacts to build an extraordinary car that was eventually honored by Ferrari themselves.

    :)

    One man's "honored" is another man's "rip-off". :)

Honestly, I don't think Jim is bitter or upset. I believe he's merely speaking the truth about where certain styling aspects of the LF came from. People can criticize him all they want, but that won't change the facts and I don't think he cares one way or the other what we think. He's not trying to "convince" us of anything. He's merely sharing his knowledge with us.

Regarding the issue of who copied whom or who!

    It gets pretty murky.

If you take a modern Ferrari, an Enzo, and modify it to look like an older Ferrari from the 60s-
I think it is hard for most people to say that you don't have a lot of Ferrari DNA
there. I mean it even has the same Ferrari engine. But wait, Ferrari did not actually design the body of either the old or the new car! They paid for it and own the designs but they didn't really create it.

Now you take a another modern F430 Ferrari and keep the same engine and make it look like your modified car which was made to closely resemble a vintage Ferrari -- again you have to say there is still a lot of Ferrari DNA there too.

Yes the custom cars are unique models and with a lot of innovative, as LDM likes to quip,
Changes. But still a lot of Ferrari design and engineering both vintage and modern.

There is nothing wrong with that approach to making a car.

Ferrari doesn't make everything in house-just look at all of their manufacturing partners!

It's a very different thing to copy something for one's own enjoyment than it is to copy something to sell to others and make a profit off of.
