Hi all. I need your advice, Joe's most needed, on this particular 288 that I'm interested in. The guys has more than 1 in stock which is already quite amazing given the rarity of the car. The one I'm interested in is said to have 6500km.... BUT PLEASE LOOK AT THE LEATHER ON THE SEATS - does that wear come with such low mileage or am I just being too picky and paranoid?

    Thank you thank you.

That picture was taken on May 9, 2009 - You may want to start with a more recent picture!

    Tom.

Last you commented on 288 GTO's you stated that they were "huuuuuuugely overpriced". That was just 5 days ago: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/288gto-f40-f50-enzo-laferrari/400273-enzo-f70-laferrari-investment-enzo-prices.html

Glad to see that you've quickly come around to acceptance that the market is the market. That is if you are seriously looking at this image with the intent to buy this car. I'm assuming the GTO has replaced the Enzo in your affections.

I am well-known for sharing & dispensing advice as best I can so it should come as no surprise that I'd be delighted to help. But, generally speaking, I like to know who I am helping, so please take a moment to complete your profile.

As regards your question, one low-res image does not a dodgy seller make.

Do you have multiple current high-resolution images of the seats?
As regards the mileage, do you have a copy of the car's maintenance records from new to help corroborate the current displayed mileage?

FWIW 288 GTO seats do have the 'creased' look from new in the cars that have all-black (8500) leather.

Most likely these two, although the engine-picture seems exactly the same for both cars and there are only 3 pictures (max) in the add:

The 288 GTO will be The First of the Series forever and that alone is but one reason it will remain special. I like the LF though. Actually, I like them all!

I agree, the 288 set the standard, and for those merits alone deserves to considered a very special car.

But the middle one will always remain special for me.

    The long way home

And all of the other vehicles they have listed are readily recognizable as being at other dealers, sometimes on other continents.

TomKim should be very careful dealing with that "seller".

Hi all, updated my profile as advised by Joe.

    So, saw the F70....nnnnnnaaah.....

Back to 288 - I've decided not to bother with asking for more photos from the seller, I'll pay him a visit 16-18th March and take some photos myself that I will then share with you. I'm just stunned that he's got 2 of them for sale.

I actually feel myself a fool for thinking "Enzo or 288?" not having been inside either of them)) 288 I have never even seen in real life.

I reckon it will be quite interesting to see what will happen to prices for Enzo in the next few months..

    Best,

    TomKim

Please ensure you get photos of both car's chassis numbers, thanks in advance.

A few years ago Carugatti the Swiss dealer had 2 for sale.

I have 2 seperate clients who both happen to currently own 2 288 GTOs, but none of them are for sale.

A few 288 GTO memories of mine, a couple of times I stopped at the Gaston Andrey Saab/Ferrari chalet to stare at the brand new GTO for sale in the mid-80's, driving in Montreal during Grand Prix weekend in 85 or 86 seeing a GTO parked at the entrance of a large hotel with a huge bow draped on it, and hanging out in the garage of an owner of one who also had an F50 and Enzo amongst others sharing the space. Probably the best looking of the one-offs until I see the LF in person.

I as about to say I wasn't crazy about the LaFerrari's looks. Then you posted a picture of the Renault LeCar beneath it.

I was mistaken. The new LaFerrari is absolutely gorgeous!

(Although, if that were a 288 GTO in the second photo instead, I'd still like the GTO a lot better than the La-F!)

Just don't forget to attend to all the magnesium pieces. We're seeing the corrosion, particularly on on the sump, starting to show up on the cars. Which makes sense since I was always told about 20 - 25 years out you should attend to this. Just strip them, clean them, apply zinc chromate primer, dull aluminum paint and you're good to go for another 25 years or so. We do the same with the magnesium on all the vintage race cars as well. And, yes, I recently did exactly that when I had the engine out major service done.

Joe, pardon the pedestrian question, but what does that mean?

I remember seeing cars from the old Ferrari dealer with those stickers on the mags.

I think its just a sticker to remind the guys building the cars which wheels go on the front.
