The driver lost control while changing lane in wet...

Wrong driving mode (Race mode instead of wet maybe) or just wrong driver ???

    Very sad indeed...

After picking my car from the car wash, I made a left turn (on Race Mode) and the car lost control, causing it to slide back and forth for a few seconds. Luckily the car stabilized without incident.

It looks like there is too much torque applied in the overtaking maneuver, the left rear wheel bites too hard just as the driver begins to turn the wheel to the right. The driver is not capable of recovering, and the system does not rescue him. This is consistent with being in race or even traction control off.

They were driving like idiots while getting on to the highway... maybe had it in snow mode or something? Then maybe they kicked it into race to get more pickup and really goofed up?

Ouch, that is awful. I dont know how someone could be that bad of a driver on both of those incidents in this film.

If you look at the video, I smell a novice driver. The car is a spider so it's new. He's having difficulty (being nervous?) moving into traffic.

I bet the guy next to him yelled "go for it!" and well... the rest is history permanently placed on Youtube forever.

Hydroplaning and changing lanes don't go together well!

Classic! Power oversteer in slick conditions, lift throttle, spin, crash!

    No traction control it seems.

The first time I was on track we were talking about what went good/bad in the first session, one guy started talking about how he took a little too much speed and the car spun...The instructor immediately stopped him there and said "The car didn't spin, you spun the car, the car is made to do exactly what your inputs are telling it to do"... Wise words!

    Yes!

Also, stability control doesn't change the laws of physics. Too fast / too bone headed driving still cause crashes...

The downside to stability control is a sense of over confidence, just like when ABS came out, many drivers don't realize it's intervening.

First off I would NEVER floor it on wet pavement, no matter what the mode....

But a question?.....Would being in wet mode actually prevent that spin?....I mean if the car gets loose like is TC really gonna save it?.......Just curious as I'm sure the wet mode is advanced but there are some things that can't stop physics....

this is what we would call power on oversteer, i.e., too much application of power to the rear wheels caused the initial loss of traction. It's a classic case that TC would have intervened and cut power as it sensed loss of traction. My guess is that wet mode would have prevented this by throttling back.
