Oh boy. I was just shopping around UK sites & saw an 05 Aston V8 vantage for just £35k. That's under S$70k. Geez is it dirt cheap over there or am I feeling expensive here?

I don't think so as you cannot calculate the benefits of the downforce and the DRS that the P1 has. There is no mention of the downforce of the La Ferrari or use of DRS. Both are major considerations on how fast an F1 car goes around the track.

True. I can't wait for the P1 review. Every curve is just purrr-fect ... I kinda wish they made some difference with the P1 center console though. They just took the whole MP4 center console and dump it there. Bah ...

Some guys have asked for the alignment specs of the CS so the following is what I use courtesy of F430 GT.

    360CS street/track alignment:
Front: 0 Toe, -2.5 degrees camber
Rear: 4mm Toe-In (This is 0.25 degrees per side, 0.50 degrees total), -2.0 degrees camber

    I use RE 11 235/35R19 and 285/35R19.

    Hope this helps

Hey Mate, cars in UK is like bike prices here. :)

I'm looking for a countach, but the purer QVs are very expensive & elusive now so settling for an anniversary model but then it has also proved to be impossible to get, selling within days of being listed. Argh so I'm resigned to getting hopefully a Diablo roadster or the earliest 2WD Diablo. They are cheaper than a 3 series here!

Do it Jon, any of the 3 you mentioned will be a collector's in time to come, most probably the roadster other than the 25th Anniversary. But the Countach is the grand daddy of all super exotics.

Oh no  why I feel like its déjà Vu all over again 2 yrs ago?! Spent several hours reading up procedures of shipping a car out of Singapore & it's as troublesome as from Malaysia but cannot grease the process so it's min 2-3weeks just for documentations.

You need to apply for a Carnet to tour in foreign countries. Customs on all ports/entry/exit needs it though not all countries participate in this. You can apply through AA.

    1) Car must have valid road tax, insurance during the period which means it usually has to be inspected for old cars & pass or face delays.
    2) A bank guarantee. S$20k for under 2.0l & s$50k for >2.0L.
    3) have a shipping laden date so you must book the "ticket"
    4) copies of ic/log card etc
    5) wait

It's still a lot easier than Malaysia @ the moment. So hope nothing screws up but I'm prepared to rent or buy another Lambo.

Yes. Local cars are subjected to 20%vat for all services rendered like painting, repairs etc so our 7% GST is peanuts. But good thing is, since my car is a foreigner , it is not subjected to VAT.

Labour. They charge £1500 on all labour to remove, work & reinstall an engine out on the V12 including transmission. Excluding parts which are again half priced. In Singapore, it is S$10k min for the labour alone, S$17k+ for clutch job. And they have the latest systems, ECU tuners, everything for a Miura right up to Aventador. Only thing expensive is painting. Their job for that can cost £25k for a show quality bare metal paint job :p

On the painting. I'm hoping to repaint the car as it has swirl marks all over by now & some bits. A few annoying creeks on the chassis over humps so would like to remove all glasses & change new seals. Parts are cheap but labour is expensive even in Singapore as dash+trimming must be removed. Once done, car will drive like new, tight & good.

Audi, I really like the Diablo roadster as I'm without a convertible now & there's nothing like a V12lambo open top; they made only about 330 of those ever. Imagine pounding the European mountains in it during Dry days or over the hills in Provence. The carbon fibre roof slides back over the engine! So easy unlike post Murcie models. But the Countach beckons, it's a wildest childhood dream to own one other than that it's the F40 :D

Jon, be careful about the taxes as SG will levy 20% + 7%GST on your overseas repair though it has nothing to do with SG workshops or the gov but that's how it is. And yes, the indy workshops in UK are far cheaper and more skilled than SG. Which shows how much we are getting ripped here hence I also intend to ship the car out if I need a full restoration. I had very good experience with the UK workshop, Foskers. That was where I saw a 288 GTO restored to concour winning shape after it split into 2. So they and the factory say that any F car can be repaired with jigs, just a question of how much.

Buy both bro :D. The countach is a recognised collector car so prices somewhat reflect that. Maybe not yet for Diablo but it's time will come.
