I'm doing the work myself. I've already deconstructed the dash leather and my wife has made the pattern for me. As soon as we get the material she's going to cut it and sew it for me I'll be the one that glues it back on the dash.

It's really not all that hard guys. When I'm done I'll be posting pictures of the entire process.

By the way Raymond, Connolly Leather (was a brand) they went out of the leather business in 2002.

I wish I could get my wife on the sewing machine! Upholstery has been one the things I've steered clear of so far, that and transmissions. I have a few small fixes I need to do though, so maybe I'll look into it a little more. Would love to see pictures when your done.

The good thing is my wife loves to sew.

I'm going to practice form and fit on some left over leather I've had sitting here for years before I use the good stuff.

The hard part was to build enough courage to tug on certain parts of the dash pieces and not have fear of breaking anything. It took me a few deep breaths when pulling the plug out of the digital clock! I ALWAYS break tabs, thankfully I didn't break a thing this time around.

Can you imagine having just a regular guy that probably wont care, try and do what I just did?

I just don't trust anyone here well enough to tear out my dashboard that's why I did it myself. It's a good thing I learned how to do it and I can almost call myself an eggspert. lol

The upholstery shop here has a bunch of yo-yo's that look like they haven't showed in weeks.

Not only that they seem to ONLY work on "pimp my rides" type of cars. No thanks! I'll pass!

If I screw it up which more than likely I wont. I'll drive the dang thing up to Venzano and have him do it for me.

He's done ALL my Vipers and you do not get better quality Italian craftsmanship than this guy.

He's very expensive but well worth it.

I havent seen my buddy in years, so it'll be worth the 18 hour drive if I screw up. Hopefully it wont come down to that.

I mean we're only talking about the dash. If it was the seats, no doubt I would have Venzano do that job. But on the same token I wouldnt mind learning how to do a seat now that I think about it. lol

As long as you have a pattern it's not all that hard. I've seen my wife do wonders with her sewing machine, but then again it's one of those super expensive ones that's computerized. I'm not allowed near it without getting yelled at.

We took out the pair to the Paris Cars & Coffee on March 3rd. Crisp and sunny morning, we had an awesome time.

Just finished reading it. Very nice. I did get a chuckle out of this line:

"There is a camp of car snobs who believe that the early version of the Countach, the LP400, is aesthetically superior. I am not in that camp."

LOL! Hey, I'm not partial am I??? ;-)

Yep, I saw that and thought "Hey, that's me in a nutshell"!! LOL! I actually found a pair of shoes that I can wear when I drive the car, but for a long time I did the "stocking feet" thing! hahahaha...

Sometimes I wish there was a dedicated CT section here for technical discussions.

That said we installed a starter booster relay last week after a “scare” that turned out to be just a bad wire. Every day since then I’ve made it a point to start the car and go for a quick ride. It may be purely psychological but I’d contest that the starter sounds more alive with that added red 30 booster wire. Thanks Albert!

Hi triple-x , I was digging through my hard disk and found a comment pretty sure it was on this site from a Tony Ierardi, where he said the leather used was a Moroccan hide , he is into Countach and Delorean restoration, he said at the time the Connolly leather did not wear well, if you can track him down he may be able to point you in the right direction for a supplier. Hope it helps.

Thanks! Tony was on my short list of people to call this week.

    The pressure is now on!

I have exactly 3 weeks to finish the little I do have to do to my car.

I just got confirmation that Valentino Balboni WILL be driving my car and I'm position #4.

I'm so EGGScited I feel like a teenaged kid all over again. lol
