They just updated the Cali - usually they get 2 years out of an update like that -
Hard to believe the ALL new Cali is coming that soon.My bet it will be the 458 Scud

My dealer suggested OTR that it would be introduced at Frankfurt.

Does not seem feasible at that price - one could look at alternates like an F12 for LESS money

I agree. More like 340 plus options if there is no Kers.

Ferrari gave us a happy surprise with the F12 base price -
I'm hoping for the same with the 458 scud -
Especially with the Euro weaking against the dollar

Do keep us informed, especially about technical details as you learn them. You can tell that there is a lot of interest in this.

I say 600 HP minimum based on the same 4.5 engine + new exhaust + some other tweaks.
    -300 LB's ... maybe more
    0-60mph : 3 seconds
    New front spoiler
    New rear spoiler
    New hole in pocket

    Hi..
what can I say today after the meeting? Not too much sorry. Personally I am not disappointed but some of you will be .. No name yet, no tech. specs yet. Just ideas of what it "could be"..
    for sure just few things:

price from 25.000 to 30.000 euro more is expected
tech. details: will be delivered by the end of the month (in a paper I sew it was written 31-03)
    September Debut
Privat look on the new car for potential customers or whom have placed the order: Summer
Delivery time : unknown yet. Sure by the end of the year or early 2014.

What is sure is that if I place on the table 10.000 euro, I will get some rights to be between the first to be able to sign a regular contract probably after the end of March.
Sorry no more details even if I tried in all the ways because I am seriously interested.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But from what I discovered by a pilot that tested the car (this is a separate story) in the past two months, I could just copy to you what I already wrote in another Forum last February:
    Hi..
short update today. I was told by a pilot friend of mine,(working in Maranello and that tested the car) that the 458 Scud is practically ready. few refinements and the job will be finished. Few sentences were shared with me:

*the name is not yet decided but should be Challenge Stradale at 90% as for the past 360

*the look is very similar to the 458 Challenge

*the power is notyet declared but is around 600 hp

*big loss of weight but he can't say exactly how much

*no problems with the clutch..it is perfect in this car. More satisfaction for customers than on regular one, is expected

    *manettino : will be simplified

*traction control: all pilots states that it is fantastic and you don't feel his engaging compared to the regular one

*look : fantastic (as supposed.) Very aggressive.

Performance: it is interesting what he said .."we will see now what the concurrents will be able to do"..

His personal feeling: the gap between the 430 and 430 Scuderia was bigger than in 458/458 Scuderia.

I know that most of these things are nothing special since already expected. What is important is the firm confirmation that the car is ready. He doesn't think that will be displayed on Geneva, but it doens't think too that would be impossible.

I hope to have helped people as me, waiting for this car giving them some fresh insides.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Sorry for my basic English..

Actually you have provided a great deal of information. Thank you.

Price increase over 458 would be $30-40K US.

Timing suggests arrival in US late 2014 or early 2015.

Horsepower to 600 makes sense. It is very hard to get more out of the 4.5 liter engine without KERS to allow optimizing to higher RPM.

I did not understand what is meant by "we will see now what the concurrents will be able to do"..Did he mean "the competition?"

Your description fits my expectation that the car will be "less raw" than the Scuderia.

If you have another chance, ask whether there will be carbon fiber body parts such as the roof.

"the gap between the 430 and 430 Scuderia was bigger than in 458/458 Scuderia."

That's a let down if i understand it correctly.

The performance gap between the F430 and 430 Scuderia was gigantic. The gap between the Modena and Stradale was narrower.

I'm in if they offer a smaller gap, and at the same time don't increase the MSRP by $100k (which they did with the 430 Scuderia).

A $40k MSRP increase over a base 458 Italia should be fine, but $100k+ or anything near that will place me in a waiting list of 3 years to get one on the used market (to buy it at the rapid depreciated price, as the 430 Scuderia).

The car is going to be awesome if they take at least 300 lbs on weight.

Yes he did, he pretty much confirmed our educated guesses.

Correct, 590~620 is the realistic range.

Yes the competition, reads: depends on how high Mclaren will crank the boost on the 12C, that similar motor in the P1 makes 727 hp, they can freely crank it up to 650~675 hp to make the 600 hp 458 feel bad. Also the power of the 911 Turbo is getting close too, even though the car is not in the same level. Then there is the new Gallardo, or a possible Porsche 960.

The dual clutch alone will always make the car less raw then the previous single clutch.

One note on why the previous rumor of the dual clutch can't handle the additional power is bonus. Transmission/clutch is rated by the torque capacity. This race version will just have more peak power, no additional torque at all due to same displacement. Also this same dual clutch Getrag is also used in the 6.2L AMG SLS GT with 479 lbs-ft that this NA 4.5L will never have.

Not necessarily. If the car weighs 300 lb less and offers another 30 hp, it will translate to a 15% increase in performance, which will be more than noticeable.

It make sense. The tuning on the F430 was pretty tame, so the aggressive Scud had a big performance gap.

Where the normal 458 is very capable already, so additional sport tuning don't yield as much performance gain.

It won't be a let down, it will just go from awesome to even more awesome.

Most dealers do not like talking about long term future products -
Their focus is to sell whats on hand and allocation that is available for the short term future

IMO I don't see them dropping the weight more than 100kg = 220LBS
Thats all they need for effective marketing.
Plus after a certain point it starts getting really expensive to drop the weight
