Looks like all you will need is some money and you will have a good looking GT4.
Currently on Ebay Item number: 170984670370 no VIN. Dino nose badge and an extra cavallino. Looks well cared for. Could be prepped for the Jay GT4 tucked in bumper treatment? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, it looks nice apart from that "bumper"...and the tint EDIT: Actually it doesn't look that nice. I found the ad on ebay! Why do people insist on painting valve covers? Interior is wrong too, rear bumper is home made as is the front....Also has a home made vent...stay away.
I've seen this car in person. It used to be out in Phoenix.. There is a big hole cut in the center of the back seat for a speaker... You can see the speaker in the first pic if you look closely. The front bumper used to be painted chicken wire so as bad as this homemade bumper is, its an improvement.. It does have what appears to be a factory sunroof though...
Currently on the SF Bay area CL located in San Jose"1978 Ferrari 308 GT4, original 71K miles, silver, california car/registered. Runs look good, sunroof". Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Let's see....Zero feedback seller, zero description, minimal pictures, inaccurate mileage, and yet...3 bidders for more than it's probably worth, given how much more will have to be spent on it.
And you have to let everyone know that it is a Ferrari by plastering every single sticker with a prancing horse all over your car!
I remember the guy out in AZ was holding firm at I think it was like $28K! I hope this guy didn't pay that much for it, thinking he could do a little work on it and flip it for a profit.. Let's hope..
If someone stuck decals on the paint (and let them sun bake) then they need to be shunned.. If it was black or red or yellow etc. at least you could match the paint...good luck with silver!
And duct tape are your friends. It's only a gt/4 , not like its an Alfa or a mustang ... Those have to be correct.
Yeah but not the white bread and mustard! That's the problem with most of these GT4's. They got good stuff in them but the majority is just "white bread". They're no longer a good sandwich, they become a faint ghost of what it should be. Much better to start off with a nice veal, sauce and Italian bread, even if it's missing some peppers or olives it's still better than baloney and mustard! We're Italian, we relate everything to food! : Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got copies of the service records from Laguna Classic Cars. Euro which is good but I think the mileage is more like 126k kilometers. Clutch has been replaced, bushings, some body work, windshields removed and reinstalled (paint?), cams welded and reground. When I pointed all this out to the dealer, I never got an email back from them. Nice car but not $35k nice.
Ebay s1 gt4 - no affiliation Interesting bumper treatment, additional cavalino badge on nose, recovered steering wheel, interesting re-dye if interior. Engine bay looks fairly unmolested. Silver hood and engine grills - 208gt4 territory there, no? unless recolored? At 62k miles the experts say the 2v engines are close to use by date (true in my case) Ferrari : 308 GT in Ferrari | eBay Motors
Engine bay unmolested? What a disaster! We've discussed this one before the last time it was for sale. Stay away...
This 79 is dealer offered in Hemmings. Whats up with the trunk carpets? Replacements on a claimed 27K mile car or did the later sunroof cars not have the unique sisal carpets of the golden early years? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Really? i see the wrong aircleaner nuts, wrinkle finished cam and belt covers (not neccessarily wrong according to some press pics robert garven put up), non oem resistors under the coils, not the nicest spark leads, but other than that pretty original (original not nice, you'd probably end up doing the lot). Looks like the cold start microswitch has been removed but thats pretty common. Airpump gone. What else do you see in the engine bay photo thats out of place, i'm an amateur at this originality thing. The shiny black paint makes me nervous, as does the lack of detail in the ad. Still, hope someone needs a project! Your car still for sale? Amazing someone hasn't snapped that up.
I think it's priced way out of project territory. It was "sold" at $25K in a previous auction, so either buyer's remorse or a shill bidder.
