It´s hard to be a good team mate to the guy that ploted to to cheat a race, actualy making him to loose the title.

I have to admit that yesterday Massa has done the best wingman job since Eddie Irvine in Suzuka 1997.

Let´s hope his stock keeps going up next year.

Though he looked clueless early in the season, Massa essentially ceded four results to support Alonso's bid for the championship. His contribution to the team needs to be officially acknowledged.

Resigning him took care of that.

Everyone was slipping around out there, good for Massa for pushing the thing a bit right? Even if it was a bit too much

Be fair to Phil. He wasn't exactly alone in offing.

Standing water + modern F1 cars + darkness doesn't work very well...... Someone would have got hurt, and the howls would begin about how they should have delayed the whole thing.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

FWIW, I'm sure they'll show us Q2 & 3 ahead of the race tonight. We may lose the pre race show, but it'll be OK.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I suspect the haters would claim he was useless if he *didn't* spin! ;)

    Wouldn't be trying hard enough.

I don't know that Phil's arse best fills the second chair but fair is fair.

You would never hear that from me.

F1 used to be the racing sport where the drivers had the biggest cahones and drove rain or shine. Unlike the pansies from NASCAR or IRL. But in recent years that sadly has changed. Starts behind the SC and race interruptions and delays because of rain.

Just keeping a tab on things. After all some of his die-hard supporters even deny his weakness under wet conditions.

    We finally agree on something.

BTW: How ironic is that: I'm currently working on a 1/12 scale figure of Massa. I'm struggling mightily trying to get his helmet right. Somebody watching me would think I'm the biggest Massa fan there is.

It is actually the design from last year. No intention to recreate that horrible moment.

It is btw surprising how little "merchandising" is out there in regards to Massa and his recent Ferrari years. Any kit/model you find has Alonso in it or associated with it.

Finding an Alonso helmet is a piece of cake, finding one for Massa (in the right scale) is impossible. Maybe if he has a good year this year, somebody will come out with one.

Massa was utterly hosed by Ferrari today in favor of Alonso. Politics as usual there. Massa was undoubtedly quicker during the beginning of the race and Fernando quicker late in the race. If Fernando wants to pass Massa, is it up to him to pass Massa, NOT Ferrari and their bureaucracy.

Oh that's cute: You're trying to use my argument of bureaucracy of the huge corporations (like MB) now against Ferrari?

    Really?

Team orders have nothing to do with bureaucracy. Actually quite the opposite. In a bureaucratic organization the Vorstand in Stuttgart would have a committee deciding about this on Wednesday and by Friday make a decision. It is the sign of an agile racing team to call the shots live during the race as they seem.

That said, I'm not even sure team orders were at play here. Not that I have an issue with them.

You know F1 better than this. Alonso is #1. Just as Hamilton should be #1 at MB (and I'm sure he is or will be in short order).

I think we both know good and well that we do not know what happens behind closed doors with any team. Massa was objectively quicker and had better race positioning and should have been boxed first.

To me, it looked like Massa was holding up Alonso significantly at the beginning of the race. I thought they DID bring in Massa first.

It may not be much but I have a Scuderia t-shirt with Massa's name and his colors and I keep wearing it no matter what. I believe he still has something to offer and who knows.... All I can say is it's a good start to the season!
