i've always liked them-i'm sure the design is a bit polarizing, but it's very appealing to me, although i do think the back end is a bit abrupt...does anyone own one? i'd love to hear how they drive, etc...

Phil, if I recall correctly there were one or two of these featured on Bring A Trailer last year, or perhaps in 2011. If I were you I'd search the BaT vaults, because the comments sections on there are really precious wells of information. When talking about Alfa Romeo this is especially true when they feature comments by member "Old Alfa Guy" and "Ed L", among others.

I like the looks of the car, and I'd only ever seen it in resale red before. This car in the picture you posted is absolutely gorgeous!

I noticed that Fantasy Junction has one for sale, not as pretty, but no price ...

I think the Lancia looks better from the rear even if its reminiscent of a 911.

    http://bringatrailer.com/2011/04/25/1-of-105-1967-alfa-romeo-2600-sprint-zagato/

The guy selling this one wanted almost 150K for it, which was steep at the time...

More expensive than some of its period counterparts...

    http://bringatrailer.com/2012/05/31/needy-zagato-1966-alfa-romeo-2600sz-project/

Here was a project for near 60K

Did you check Anamera for the prices?

I suppose for 150K i'd be looking for something a little nicer. I don't know what a Lancia Flaminia Super Sport goes for these days, but I'd be looking at those if they are close in pricing...

I could live with the body, but the 2600 engine is sort of a dog. I give the Lancia a thumbs up.

the lancia is about 200k plus....also, they only made 105 of these, of which about 40 or 50 remain..which means they're very hard to find!

Wow, that's a chunk o change. I think the Flaminia Super Sport is one of Zagato's most beautiful designs. I like it even better than the DB4 GTZ, which certainly has some of the Flaminia's cues. Just didn't know they were so much.

Good luck on the search for a 2600. They are beautiful cars, and I think one would fit in nicely in your already great collection.

I agree on the 2600 engine. It looks pretty but the 2600's in general were heavy slow touring cars. The 2600 SZ was only slightly lighter. The lights were Citroen production units with body by Zagato and alloy hood and doors. They also love to rust. I know a guy who had 2 of them last I heard. Cars came with optional Borrani's.

i think it was a couple of hundred pounds lighter, and about 15hp faster, but wasn't the 2600sz SUPPOSED to be a touring car?

I really like the Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato. I think this car will take a steep rise in value over the next 5 years.

It looks OK from that angle but some of the others ... eh?

That's a nice color once again in a nice setting that started this thread.

it IS a lovely car, but a lovely conventional design

-the thing i like about the 2600 zagato is that it's quite surprising from a design standpoint-zagato was taking (in my opinion) a risk, and one that works quite beautifully from most angles...the lancia is a pretty conventional set of angles and curves, but i'm sure better from a sporting perspective..

They had a Webber option that added HP. It was a touring car, but some might be suprised at how heavy it feels compared to other vintage 1960 Alfa's. Still I always liked the design. Interesting car that looks better in real life and in yellow(my opinion).

The first series Flaminia Sport with covered headlights is the best looking in my opinion. The Super Sport is also very nice. Those cars are more conventional than the 2600SZ wich stands out because it is strange and still good looking.Typical Alfa Romeo.

I´d prefer the Flaminia Z - its a classic and beautiful Zagato design with the double bubble roof and covered headlights.
The mechanical construction and quality by 50/60ies Lancia is also superior to most cars - Alfa 2600 Z is not much of a competitor in this race, maybe an interesting design though.

Sorry, I was also refering to the Flaminia Sport with Zagato body with covered headlights like your picture. Good looking cars. The uncovered headlight car picture is also of a Zagato as you know.

This is the one I was originally referring to, but now I regret it as I seem to have derrailed the thread. Sorry Phil.

Did you check the 2600 Zagato register? Maybe you will have some luck there...

The Flaminia Zagato's have been popping up for sale a lot recently-Hexagon in the UK had one, and Legendary Motorcar in Canada had one, in addition to Fantasy Junction. The going rates are in the 260K range now. And wasn't one just sold at Amelia?

While the Alfa 2600 Zagato isn't in the same league as the Lancia, it's quite a lot less money.

    Nice write up here

No worries! I actually prefer the earlier flaminia sport zagato, to this one..

I've actually found a Alfa 2600 zagato, was just curious what people thought!
