Hi Guys, I have recently purchased a 360 Spider (manual, 2002, 16k miles). It's a great car, but I have one little issue that i'm a bit stuck on : If, with the engine running, ticking over at appx. 1100rpm I gently press the throttle pedal and increase the revs to 1600>1800rpm it will automatically drop back down again to 1100rpm whilst my foot is in the exact same position. Also, with spirited driving, it will occasionally completely lack power for a second at any sort of RPM - almost like one bank is not kicking in / some sort of throttle position sensor ?? If it helps I have recently changed both MAF sensors due to it 'hunting' when cold, ie. revs, increasing / decreasing when the engine was cold - The new MAF's solved that issue. I have also changed the battery today (basically because it was stuggling to start the car on occassions even after a drive the day before). I followed the correct reset procedure on this forum after changing, ie. 10 secs on position II & then 10 mins idling, then a drive. If anyone could advise any tips it would be greatly appreciated Dave
My two cents. If there are no codes, then it's likely something old school mechanical. Having said that, the computers on these cars pretty much measure everything right down to the pucker pressure on your buttplug. The bank dropping out is probably your clue. But why no code? Maybe one of the site pros like RustyBits can weigh in when his timezone comes up.
Hi, many thanks for the reply. I've had another search on the forum and 'apparently' the accelerator pedal potentiometer doesn't throw up any error codes if it's faulty (from what i've read). Maybe this part is my problem ? - ie. the dropping down in revs automatically when the pedal is pressed when stationary & perhaps whilst driving / changing gear with different pressures on the pedal it will lower the revs during a gear change feeling like i have no power ? Still a bit stuck as to what to change / look for still - any further tips more than welcome. Dave
